So wherever you are,
I invite you to join me in placing your feet on the floor,
And we'll begin by pressing the feet into the earth beneath you.
When we move through a typical day,
Our energy is very oriented to up and out.
And grounding,
Literally connecting through firm pressure to the ground beneath you,
Helps to funnel some of that energy a bit more down and broad.
And as you release your feet,
We'll now bring the hands to the thighs and offer some deep pressure and slow squeezes.
Holding for about five seconds,
Moving from the top of the knee back towards the top of the thigh.
Grounding yourself here.
You'll now sense the places where your body makes contact with the surface you're sitting on.
And allow your nerve endings to hang heavy.
So here you may wish to adjust your posture so that your body can take up space in all four directions.
Bringing one hand to the chest now.
And sense your body as it breathes.
You don't have to breathe extra deep or in any fancy or specific way.
The invitation is to allow ribbons of your attention.
To unspool from the subtle parts of your body.
And so as you breathe,
You might allow your awareness to expand,
Not just to the up and down of the chest.
But to some of the deeper,
Simpler,
More hidden sensations of your breath.
And as you feel the weight and the warmth of your hand on your chest,
Allowing awareness and attention to trickle down past the flesh and the bone to your heart.
Allowing a breath to flow through the left side of your heart.
Looping through the right side of the heart.
Sensing into the heart even as it extends beyond the physical body.
And we'll drop in a question here,
Like you might drop a teabag into hot water,
Just seeing what blooms.
Body.
What would you have me know in this moment?
The body often speaks in a language different from words.
And so will linger here.
Dropping in the question again,
Seeing if there's anything beneath the surface.
Body,
What would you have me know in this moment?
And so wherever you're off to next,
May you move from center.
And there is great power in the choice to pause.
So thank you for allowing me to take this pause with you.
