Al Dabbalahimu nashaytanu rajim.
Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim,
In the name of the One Most Compassionate,
Most Merciful,
Most Kind.
This is Mark Silver with Heart of Business.
Welcome to the Remembrance.
Something that our hearts often need has to do with when we know what is truly nourishing for us.
And yet we don't do it.
And what's worse,
We sometimes do exactly what it is that we don't need.
Alcohol or food or mindless social media or all kinds of different things that are normally fine in moderation but may be just ways that we avoid really taking care of ourselves and being healthy.
So let's just start by noticing how we're feeling right now.
Maybe some agitation or some upset or overwhelm or fullness or maybe happy,
Maybe feeling fine.
Just noticing how much space there is to feel exactly how you're feeling without needing to change or fix anything.
So much space to feel exactly how you're feeling.
An even space to not want to feel how you're feeling.
Both of those.
And just noticing that the heart has the yearning you may notice that your heart has the yearning to reach for exactly what it's needing.
Divine quality,
For love,
For care,
For nourishment.
That truly is nourishment.
And you may also notice that your physical body or your emotional body has things that it wants to reach for also.
And the very first thing is to just notice that when your nervous system is jangling,
When it's full and it's hard to be resilient,
It's hard to be resourceful,
That often what we need is for the nervous system to just slow down,
To just bleed off some of the pressure.
That the nervous system just needs some soothing.
And often what soothes our nervous system are various kinds of physical comfort.
It's so important to not make that wrong,
To have space for the desire for physical comfort,
For emotional comfort.
Just so you can have space to react and to be with what's going on.
Whatever it is.
So much soothing is needed.
And sometimes just knowing that that's what's needed,
That we can back away from the either-or nature of,
Oh I can get my heart nourished or I'm just going to plunge into this abyss of too much ice cream or wherever we go.
What if there was a legitimate step to notice that I'm having trouble following my heart?
What will soothe me?
What will soothe my nervous system enough that I can slow down?
And I can listen,
That I can receive?
Maybe it is a small portion of chocolate or one single spoon of ice cream or just lying down with your head on a pillow and taking some breaths.
And all of this before even attempting the remembrance.
If you have the inspiration or the desire to call in the remembrance,
To call the name of the Divine,
To remember,
To ask,
Is love available even here?
That's beautiful.
But sometimes we don't have that inspiration.
Sometimes we just forget.
But maybe we can remember that we just need a small taste of soothing,
Small taste of comfort.
And then checking in,
Seeing how we feel after that one taste of comfort.
Often that one taste is all we really need.
And then being able to bring your attention to your heart high up in your chest and beginning to call the name of the Divine,
The name of the One,
The One who created your nervous system and created your body and knows what your body needs as well as what your heart needs and knows already that both need to be cared for,
Both need to be fed,
Both need nourishment.
And that it is a sacred and holy task to care for your body and to care for what it needs.
And then calling the name of the Divine so that your heart is not neglected.
Letting your head bow,
Letting your heart bow,
Letting yourself ask,
What is it that your heart is thirsty for?
What is it that your heart is hungry for?
Umm.
Umm.
Umm.
And letting your heart drink in anything it needs.
Umm.
Umm.
Umm.
Umm.
Umm.
Just calling the name of the Divine through the open doorway of your heart,
Asking what does it need?
So much space for the body and its needs for comfort,
Its needs for joy,
Needs for sweetness,
Its needs for rest.
It's very important to acknowledge that our modern life has become very neurologically complex to deal with.
Never before have humans have to dealt with so many complex brain oriented,
Thinking oriented tasks.
Our nervous systems really are often at the limit and soothing is nothing that we should ignore.
Just acknowledging the need for soothing while remembering the Divine.
Acknowledging the need for gentleness while calling to the One.
Accepting and celebrating the need for sweetness while calling out to the Beloved.
Umm.
Umm.
Umm.
Umm.
Noticing how your heart feels.
Noticing how your being feels.
And noticing any authentic appreciation,
Any authentic gratitude for anything that you've experienced during this remembrance.
Letting yourself express that to the Divine.
And if you have time to stay in remembrance,
Feel free of course to stay in remembrance as long as you need to.
Letting yourself immerse in the comfort and in the heart nourishment.
And if this is your time to return your attention to your day,
Remember that the remembrance that your heart that the love is available in any moment,
In every moment.
And taking a nice gentle breath and returning your attention.
Peace.
