Balanced Yogi Podcast #Episode 2: This week, I'm sharing a practice that will help you connect to a sense of space within the present moment so (hopefully) you can connect to a centered feeling of peace and contentment. If this is too short, I often share extended versions in my Yoga community. Please take a moment to comment. I'd love to get to know you better.

Hi and welcome,

My name is Lyns and today I'm going to take you on a journey into inner peace.

Or at least setting the intention to work towards it,

There's never any pressure.

This is episode two of my podcast and I'm stepping in after we've got to know each other after a whole one episode to ask you a favour.

Now wherever you've found me,

Whatever platform that you're on,

There's a way of showing your appreciation and also showing your support.

So if you are awake at the end of this session,

Then if you could hit a bell or subscribe or a like and even leave me a comment,

That would be amazing because it's all about connection community,

Isn't it?

So thank you very much for that.

But back to the job in hand,

Today is,

This is all about you now.

I've created a meditation called the seven points of peace.

In my yoga classes,

We normally have a theme for the month and the theme this month is a theme of contentment.

So when we notice the mind is grasping or looking outside for peace,

For contentment,

For happiness.

So when I reach this amount of followers on my brand new podcast,

Then I will be contented and peaceful.

Or when I get X amount in the bank or I call it that when I'm skinnier,

I'll be happier,

Which means life will be better.

But if we can really then begin to practice being more present with ourselves,

Actually connecting to a calm space within or a peaceful space within that's in our centre.

So we're kind of taking refuge away from the busy,

Busy world.

And that refuge is within ourselves not within some achievement or attainment or some future base goal.

Then life just feels a lot more manageable.

So that's my intention for you today.

I hope you enjoy.

All you need is somewhere comfortable to sit turning off any distractions,

And then open mind can be very helpful too.

Let's prepare the body.

Find that comfortable seated position on the floor,

Perhaps with the legs crossed,

Or on a chair with the feet on the ground.

Rest your hands on the lap and sit tall through the spine.

Soften the eyes and as they begin to close,

Soften the jaw and the root of the tongue,

Maybe roll the tongue around in the mouth,

Just to help relax that area of the body.

Relax the shoulders down away from the ears and allow the arms to be heavy.

Soften the belly and the thighs.

As you sit with the eyes closed,

Have a sense of the space that surrounds you.

The space in between you and whatever's on the left side of you.

The space in between you and whatever is on the right side of you.

The space in between the back body and the wall behind.

And the front body and the wall in front.

The space above the crown of the head,

All the way up to the ceiling.

Now having an awareness of this body in this room,

Seated,

Grounded,

Surrounded by still,

Silent space.

You may wish to take a few deep cleansing breaths to really get yourself settled into the practice.

You can breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth or in and out through the nose.

There's no special way of doing this,

Whatever works well for you in this moment now.

Gently begin to let go of the breath and come back to this awareness of space that's surrounding you.

Now see if you can extend that awareness of space beyond the walls and the ceiling,

Taking it far and wide.

You become boundless,

Infinite and vast.

If this becomes too much for you,

You can always draw back to the space within your room.

Do what feels comfortable for you.

Just now,

Draw the awareness to the seat of the body,

The base of the torso,

The sit bones,

The pubic bone,

The buttocks and maybe the upper thighs,

With a focus on the base of the body.

Whisper,

I am peace.

I am peace.

I am peace.

Now with the base of the body centred in peace and the mind centred in peace,

Getting a sense of emptying everything out,

Begin to expand your awareness back out into the space that surrounds you,

As far and as wide as feels comfortable for you.

Slowly begin to draw the awareness back,

Anywhere between the belly button and the pubic bone.

It's a simple process,

So coming back to this statement,

I am peace,

And get the sense of emptying out the belly of any tension,

Any mental,

Emotional,

Physical blockages,

Creating space there.

I am peace.

Begin to take and expand your awareness back out into space,

As far and as wide and as tall as feels good for you.

Slowly guiding the awareness now to the solar plexus area of the body,

So the space in between the belly button and where the ribcage meets at the front of the body,

Somewhere there that feels comfortable.

Repeating the phrase as a whisper or even a song,

I am peace.

I am peace.

Emptying the space out in the whole of the belly.

And slowly begin to spread your awareness vast,

Wide,

Infinite,

Opening up your inner peripheral vision.

Narrowing that awareness now to the heart centre,

The space in the centre of the chest.

I am peace.

And no worries if the mind starts thinking or interesting emotions start to arise,

Let them have their space.

After all,

That's why you are doing this meditation to release tension mentally,

Physically,

Emotionally,

To make way for more of a sense of peace and contentment.

I am peace whispers your heart.

And spreading that peace now far and wide,

Expand that awareness out.

And as you expand the awareness out,

Just notice how it feels.

No need to label anything as good or bad,

No need to try and achieve anything.

Just let everything unfold naturally in front of you.

And draw the awareness now to the throat.

I am peace.

And then spreading that sense of spaciousness,

Of peace,

Of contentment,

Out as far and as wide as you'd like.

Maybe you're getting a little bit further every time or maybe you're even drawing in.

Coming now to the centre of the brain and relax the brain.

From the centre of the brain,

Taking the awareness back out far and wide.

And just feeling into the still,

Silent space that surrounds you.

Draw the awareness now to the crown of the head.

And repeating the phrase,

I am peace.

And drawing that sense of peace now down through the whole of the body,

The crown of the head,

The brain,

The throat,

The heart,

The solar plexus,

The space underneath the belly button and your seat.

I am peace.

And radiating that awareness back out to the space that surrounds you.

Boundless peace inside,

Outside and all around you.

If you're ready to get on with your day or even drift off to sleep,

Let go of the practice,

Open the eyes or curl yourself up in a ball,

Whatever you need to do next is the most important thing.

Thank you for joining me.

I look forward to catching up with you again very soon.
