Ego: Our Great Regret

This audio is a fresh recapitulation of the first session of the course: INGREDIENTS FOR AWAKENING. It is important to know where we begin. Therefore, during this recording we will unmask the root of our suffering: our ego. This illusory identity grows and entrenches itself deep inside. Dissolving it opens us to Awakening. We will examine our ego-based identity from different angles, exposing its influence on our daily life and well-being.

Hello,

Welcome to this space for development.

I am Luis Marquez,

And today we will reflect on our great disconnection,

Our dissociation with the divine,

The root of our isolation,

That which limits our love.

Many refer to this neurotic,

Shameful,

Fearful,

Superficial self as the ego.

The ego represents our most harmful attitudes,

Those which fail to consider the people around us,

Those which abstract our warmth and wisdom.

Our great difficulty lies on our limited and egocentric perspective,

On the narrow and disintered mind that tends to steer us automatically and without much lucidity.

Our ego leads us away from the essential.

I would like you to take a few seconds to recognize that part of you which seeks compulsively to rejoice in material experiences and objects,

That part of you which generates distraction and confusion within you.

Peer into that part of you that is quick to anger and that lashes out at your loved ones,

The superficial part of you that lacks confidence and serenity.

Perhaps you recognize your ego in the part of you that makes constant judgments and holds prejudices,

In your lack of discipline,

In your deceptions,

Your excuses or your self-imposed isolation.

Through conscious breathing these layers will peel away,

Giving way to a great calm.

With the subtle consciousness of your immediate experience,

Your false self will evaporate and in its place will appear love and sensibility.
