Now today's meditation is to inspire a bit of creativity.
So whether you have writer's block or you just wanna bring a bit of color into your life,
Then this is the meditation for you.
My name is Lucy Stone and this is Meditation Rocks.
Now when we close our eyes often we just see a dark space and sometimes it's really nice to try and change that darkness into a color or a colorful light.
And that's what we're going to try with today's meditation.
Now just one thing to note,
Not everybody can visualize pictures and images in their mind.
So if you're one of those people then do not worry.
What often you might be able to do is to feel a sense of that light or glow,
Almost like you're looking up towards the sun with your eyes closed.
You can feel that light on your eyelids.
So maybe you will have that sensation if you're not able to visualize.
Also it does take a bit of practice.
So maybe you won't get it the first time but you can try again another time.
But let's see how you get on.
So this meditation is called colors,
Simple as that.
And what we're going to do is work through the colors of the rainbow,
Trying to picture the color of that light in our mind's eye or at least the presence of that color around us,
Surrounding us,
And filling the body with color.
Let's see how we go.
All right,
Get yourself comfortable wherever you are.
And if you're sitting in a chair,
Allow the feet to be flat on the floor with a nice active spine sitting up nice and tall.
Bring your hands down onto your lap or to your knees.
And then if you're happy to do so,
Close your eyes or just soften your gaze on a fixed point so you're not engaging with life around you.
And just arrive here in this moment for this meditation.
Letting go of anything that's happened today,
Not thinking about what's going to happen,
Simply celebrating this moment that we're in.
So with your eyes closed or your gaze softened,
Begin to focus inwards,
Focusing on your breath.
As you breathe in and out,
Feel the presence of the breath within the body,
And as you breathe out,
Just find some softness in the muscles,
Letting go.
So between the eyebrows,
There's a little point on the forehead that we're going to focus on now.
If you wanna take a moment,
You might even want to just press that point between the eyebrows just gently with your peace fingers,
And then removing the fingers so that you feel that presence which is easier to focus on now.
And just feeling your breath,
I'd like you to imagine there's a small white light in the spot where you pressed with your fingers between your eyebrows.
Almost like a pinprick of light coming through,
But it's white and it's glowing,
And it's maybe changing a little bit as you focus on it.
Over your next few breaths,
I'd like you to allow that white light to get a little bit bigger until eventually it's filling your entire mind's eye,
And you're focusing on an expanse of white.
Breathe in and out here,
Focusing on the white light.
And over your next few breaths,
You might like this white light to radiate through your entire body down your chest,
Your arms,
Hands,
Fingers,
Down into your legs,
Your feet and toes.
So you feel like you're absorbed and surrounded even by this white light.
And now I'd like you to allow this light to change.
So focusing back on that central point in your forehead,
I'd like you to see a tiny dot of red light.
And now I'd like you to see a tiny dot of red light.
So allow this red light to get a little bit bigger with every breath until eventually it fills your entire mind's eye and you're looking at a wall of red light glowing,
Even warming you.
And over the next few breaths,
Allow this red light to fill your entire body,
Surrounding you with its presence.
Try and feel the sense of this red light.
Now allow this red light to change.
So now focusing back on that forehead point allow yourself to see an orange light.
Over your next few breaths,
Allow the orange light,
This little dot to get bigger until it begins to fill your entire mind's eye.
And as you breathe out,
Allow this orange light to fill and flow through your entire body.
Maybe you feel the presence of this orange light around you.
Breathe in and out,
Just focusing on the colour orange.
And slowly you notice the orange light is changing to yellow.
So bring your attention back to the forehead and now the little orange light has changed to a yellow light.
Focus here.
Over your next few breaths,
Allow this red light to get bigger and fill your entire body.
Over your next few breaths,
Allow this yellow light to fill your mind's eye.
Focus on this wall of yellow.
And now allow this yellow glow,
Almost like sunlight,
To fill your entire body and to surround you.
And now you notice that that yellow dot is changing to a green dot.
Whichever shade of green you like,
Focus on this green dot in the centre of your forehead.
Focus on it.
And as you focus on it,
Allow it to get a little bit bigger with every breath until it fills your entire mind's eye.
And now this green light will radiate and flow through your entire body.
Down your chest,
Your legs,
Feet and toes,
Arms,
Hands and fingers.
And now your green light is slowly changing to blue.
The dot at first,
Focus here before it extends to your whole mind's eye.
And allow this colour to just fill your body with the colour blue.
Be surrounded by this blue presence.
And just focus here for the next few breaths,
Almost feeling the calmness of this blue light filling your body as you breathe out,
Letting go of any tension you're feeling.
And now just letting this blue light fade.
And whatever colour you see is your choice now.
As you slowly allow your breath to return to a comfortable rhythm and flow,
You choose your colour.
And you might want to start allowing that colour to gently fade a little bit,
But knowing you can return to it at any time.
You might want to start wiggling fingers and toes,
Moving arms,
Stretching your head and neck and bringing your hands together and giving them a little bit of a rub,
Creating some heat and just hovering the hands over the eyes,
Blinking the eyes open inside darkness and warmth before removing the hands.
And I hope that was a nice addition to your day.
I love to visualise colours when I'm meditating.
It really helps to get the creative juices flowing and just to think about it differently about things.
It almost feels a bit energising sometimes too.
