Welcome to this breathwork practice supporting the flow of energy for vitality and renewal and dedicated to our ability to overcome challenges.
You may choose to stand or sit and take a moment to feel the soles of your feet connecting with the receiving earth below.
Begin to lengthen the spine allowing the jaw and the shoulders to relax.
With focus on the inhale take a slow deep breath in through the nose feeling the belly and the lungs fill up with air.
Pause when you feel full then hold this breath by creating a gentle pause.
Now slowly exhaling through the mouth making this the longest exhale of your day.
Once again inhaling slowly through the nose pausing when the breath is full and as you exhale out the mouth engage the stomach muscles to empty out all the stale and stagnant air lingering in the lower lobes of the lungs.
For the last cycle inhale full and deep hold for a moment then exhale out with sound to empty the lungs releasing all the air in the body.
Breath returns to its natural rhythmic cycle flowing in and out through the nose.
Next let's draw our hands together and rub the palms back and forth generating some heat.
Full breath in and full breath out placing the right palm on the belly and the left palm on the heart feeling the warmth and tapping into a deeper sense of feeling the breath here.
In this next practice we focus on lengthening the exhales while breathing through the nose.
Let's begin by counting the breath to five on the inhale and counting to six on the exhale.
Second round inhaling to five and exhaling to a count of seven.
Third round we inhale to a count of five and exhale to a count of eight.
One last time inhaling to five and exhaling to eight.
Allow your hands to relax down feeling grounded in this present moment.
Take a moment to observe any sensations felt in the body.
Notice the sensation of breathing in with ease feeling the releasing energy of breathing out with ease.
Transitioning to triangle breath visualize a triangle before you and follow each side as we breathe together.
Inhaling counting to five moving up to the point and exhaling counting to five moving down to the base.
Feeling emptying of air now count to five as you slide across the base of the triangle holding the space of emptiness.
For the second round inhaling up to five exhaling down to five and holding the breath on empty for five.
For the next two rounds of breath counting at your own pace and take a moment to observe any sensations in the body as the breath returns to its natural rhythm in and out through the nose as hands relax down.
Observe how it felt to pause the breath when empty of air.
Remember the energy of your intention creates your experience.
Calming the breath affects the ability to calm the mind.
We have a say in nurturing our energy.
Breath is the bridge between mind and body.
We close with the reversed transition breath a technique that you may use any time to support a flow of energy and mindfulness throughout your day.
We begin by opening the mouth and inhaling feeling the cool air move in.
Close the lips and exhale through the nose feeling the warmth flow outward.
Again inhaling through the mouth pause for a moment and then exhale through the nose sending this warmth and vitality into your day.
Repeating one last time breathing in through the mouth pausing and exhaling out through the nose.
We set the intention here to trust our life in the way that it shows up today.
All of those things that are beyond our control deserve the freedom from our mind.
When we're faced with situations beyond our control we can choose to control our breath rate.
This pause of awareness with breath is the space where we step into our personal power.
Moving through the day with less reactive energy and focusing our energy where it serves our highest good.
As we draw to a close rubbing the hands together rolling the shoulders and placing both palms on your heart to receive these closing affirmations.
May you be at ease in the world.
May you be happy and safe.
May you be free.
This practice is now complete.
I thank you for joining me.
Peace be with you.
Namaste.
