Hello,
Welcome.
My name is Lew Redman.
Thank you for practicing with me.
This is a meditation to help you get unstuck,
Whatever that might mean at this moment in your life.
Often when we feel stuck,
The reason that is is because there are two competing parts that want different things.
And so taking lessons from IFS International internal family systems,
Which is a form of therapy also known as parts work.
A lot of my coach training was influenced by this system.
What happens when we have two conflicting parts,
It's called a polarization.
And so a silly example might be that you have a part of you that wants ice cream and then you have a part of you that wants to go to the gym.
And those two parts are competing.
They don't really work well with each other.
Now a more practical example might be something like a part of you really wants to succeed and grow.
And then a part of you wants you to just stay safe and keep things how they are right now.
And so anytime you try to move towards that success or that growth,
You notice you sabotage or you notice that it just doesn't,
You don't get too far because that other part is also strong.
And so when we're not aware of these polarizations of ourselves,
We often just think it's us like,
Ah,
We're stuck.
Ah,
We're never going to figure it out.
And so having a frame of opening ourselves to seeing the different parts to having them have their say and then realizing ultimately you get to choose.
And you can ask these parts to form an alliance together because ultimately they want what's best for you.
They want it in their own way but they both want what's best for you and there might be more than just two.
I've been exploring this for me that I have these constant battles between the entrepreneur and the artist.
The entrepreneur is looking at how much money we're making,
We need to create these offers,
We need to bring these clients in.
When the artist is like,
I just want to create the most purest expression of my gifts to the world.
I just want to serve.
Who cares about the money?
And sometimes those two can feel like they're conflicting.
And I've done some work on letting them be on the same team.
I really believe that they can be on the same team.
And so let's explore that for you,
Whatever that might be in whatever context of life is supportive for you right now to explore.
Let's go ahead and get into a practice around this.
And so you can go ahead and close your eyes.
And begin to move inwards.
Relaxing your shoulders.
Softening the muscles in your face.
And letting the ground beneath you receive your body.
And coming into your center.
That might feel like your breath.
In your chest.
That might feel like you're.
Or the sensation of the ground on your sits bones.
Or it might be just noticing your spine.
Strong.
And open.
And then invitation to bring to mind something or somewhere in your life where you are feeling stuck.
And maybe it is around something that you're wanting.
You're wanting to achieve or become.
Or realize.
Or maybe it could be a relationship issue.
Maybe a should I stay or should I go experience that causes a lot of stuckness.
And if you're not stuck.
At all in any area?
You're welcome to turn this meditation off and go about your day.
I don't know,
I think sometimes we're always stuck in some ways.
We're all figuring it out.
And so I do hope you stay.
And just noticing how it lands in your body.
All kidding aside,
How does this stuckness land?
Where do you notice it?
Is it somewhere?
In your body,
Do you see an image?
Is it just a felt sense?
And not doing anything with what you find,
Just noticing.
How does this situation and the stuck feeling show up for you?
And then see if you can open to what parts are present.
And for our sake,
We're going to try to identify two,
Just to be able to work with each of them.
And so notice almost as if you are in a room.
And you open yourself up to who else is in this room with you.
Around this stuck feeling.
So noticing maybe there's one part that wants one thing and the other part that wants another thing.
And just step back and witness them.
And before you engage with them,
Let them know what it is that you're really needing and wanting right now from your truth,
From your heart.
What is it that you're working towards in your life right now?
Let them know and understand the master plan because ultimately,
Again,
You are in charge here.
And then as you're telling your parts what you need,
What you want,
What your truth is,
Notice if either of them get activated.
One might really agree and one might be like,
No.
That's not how I think.
And if you don't notice any activation,
And which one are you curious to engage with first?
And so turning to that part,
You can ask the other part to just step aside.
And noticing how you feel when you're turned to this one part of you.
And ask it,
What is it that you want from me?
Ask the question,
Then really be quiet and try to listen for it to answer you.
Sometimes we can jump in and already know the answer,
But this is really a practice in letting our subconscious reveal something that we did not know.
And so asking it,
What is it that you want from me?
And then whatever you hear.
I'd like you to reflect and mirror back what you heard it say.
And so if it said something like,
I just want to keep you safe from danger.
You might reflect something like,
Yeah,
I really hear that you're wanting to keep me safe from danger.
And so whatever you heard your part say,
Just mirroring back.
In that posture of understanding.
And just notice how it responds to that mirroring,
To being heard.
And you might even notice you feel appreciation hearing what it's doing.
And if not,
That's okay too.
And go ahead and honor it and thank it for sharing with you.
Ask if it's okay stepping aside.
And then turning to the other part.
Part that maybe wants something else or has a different agenda.
And as you turn to this part,
Notice how your body reacts,
What you see,
What you feel,
What you notice.
And then asking it the same question.
What is it that you want from me?
And then mirroring back what you heard it say.
Like,
Yeah,
I really hear.
You wanting.
To protect me.
I really hear you wanting to help us succeed.
Whatever it might be for you,
Just mirroring back its words to it from that posture of understanding.
And I should have said that if you don't hear anything from it,
That's totally okay.
Just stay in the curiosity.
So stay in the curiosity.
If you're not hearing anything,
Reflect back what you hear if you do hear anything.
And then go ahead and honor this part for what it's doing for you.
And then step back into noticing both of them together.
And Letting them know again the plan,
The vision,
What you want for your life.
Let them know the the plan from the leader.
You are the leader.
And you will call the shots.
And so this is almost like your team.
And you're the you're the one that's in charge So letting them know the plan again.
And the question for you is how can you employ them on your team or your company?
And so turn to the first part or whichever part feels true for you,
Turn to one part.
And let them know what it is that you need for them.
And it could just be telling them.
Again,
What the plan is or telling them like,
Hey,
Yeah,
I get that you're keeping me safe,
But we're not six years old anymore.
And I need you to just hold off right until there's maybe real danger where there's not in this case.
Or you might say,
Hey,
I need you to work with this other part,
Right?
You guys are on the same team.
You can't hold this toddler grudge,
Whatever it might be.
Let this part know what you need from them.
And then go ahead and turn to the other part.
And same thing,
Letting this part know what you need from them.
And then coming back into the center,
Witnessing both of them.
Honoring both of them for their roles.
And really getting confirmation on this alliance that you are creating together.
Noticing how these parts can become assets for you and the person that you're becoming.
Feeling them working together and integrated with your vision,
With your goals,
Your dreams,
Your hopes.
And again,
Thanking them for being on the team.
We're not trying to push them away.
We're not trying to tell them to go.
Thanking them.
You've let them know their new roles,
Whether that might be stepping back a little bit,
Whether that might be forming an agreement.
Honoring them for being here again.
And then coming back into yourself,
And then calling to mind again the stuckness,
This area of your life that you feel stuck in.
And notice how that feels right now.
There might still be some stuckness there.
Those parts might be sticky.
There might be other parts that we didn't get a chance to explore.
Or you might notice a little softening.
Maybe a little bit more space.
And from here I ask you what is one.
Step that you can make.
To move out of stuckness into momentum.
And if you did have an idea,
Go ahead and see yourself taking that step today,
Later on,
Whenever.
And then let's take a final breath in.
And breath out.
And whenever you're ready,
Slowly starting to open your eyes,
Coming back into the space.
I really honor you for exploring your stuckness in these parts.
I hope it was fruitful.
I hope you got some good information and just notice the shift in energy sometimes when those parts can be seen,
Heard,
And understood.
And so this is a practice that you can do at any moment of your day,
Just turning to noticing,
Hey,
Who's here?
Who's getting triggered here?
And can I understand what they're wanting?
And it's a really beautiful self-work tool.
And so I wish you all the best as you continue to do your work.
It's an honor to guide you and spend this time with you and I hope we practice or connect again very soon.
Take care.
