Welcome to this meditation for giving up a bad habit.

Please allow your eyes to close.

And imagine what your bad habit is.

What are some substitutes that you can replace for this habit?

If you have a habit of negative thinking,

Perhaps you can replace it with creative action.

What can you substitute for your bad habit?

Breathe in deeply and think about cutting out the things that trigger this bad habit.

If you have a bad habit of stopping by the donut shop on the way to work,

Perhaps you can find a different route to drive.

What are some ways you can keep yourself from getting triggered to have this bad habit?

Breathe in deeply.

Another way to break a bad habit is to surround yourself with people who live the way you want to live.

Avoid hanging around those people that push you to have bad habits.

Bad habits are often caused by stress and boredom.

Most of the time,

Bad habits are simply a way of dealing with stress and boredom.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

You can teach yourself new and healthy ways to deal with stress and boredom.

Remember that you don't eliminate a bad habit.

You replace it with a good one.

Breathe in deeply and imagine the good habits that you are going to replace with the bad ones.

Breathe in and breathe out.

And visualize yourself succeeding.

See yourself successfully quitting your bad habit.

Throwing away all unhealthy items.

See yourself waking up early,

Going to the gym.

Whatever bad habit you are looking to break,

Visualize yourself crushing it.

Now see yourself smiling and enjoying your success.

How does it feel to be over your bad habit?

Clearly see yourself successful.

You have brought awareness to your bad habit and were able to quit it successfully.

And remember,

If you have a mistake,

It's okay.

We are all human.

Take a deep breath in and open your eyes.

Give it all you've got.

You

An excellent contemplation on ways to replace unwanted habits with healthy habits and I thought that visualising a life free of this habit was very useful.

Good suggestions. And I particularly like the idea of visualizing myself doing the thing that replaces the bad habit. And visualizing feeling happy and accomplished after.
