Hello,
And welcome.
In today's meditation,
We're going to be working on releasing some excess energy,
Some excess emotion that's in our bodies that's feeling uncomfortable,
Whether this is angst or anxiety or anger,
Sadness,
Guilt,
Just the general heaviness in our bodies.
So first I invite you to find a comfortable seat,
Whether this is in a chair or on a couch,
Lying on your bed,
Or sitting directly on the ground inside or outside,
Whenever is most comfortable today.
And once you've made your way to your comfortable seat,
I invite you to gently close your eyes or find a space in front of you to allow your eyes to gaze upon.
And once you've found yourself there,
We're going to start by just noticing our breath,
Not doing anything to change it or shift it at this moment,
Just noticing.
How are my inhales feeling?
How are my exhales feeling?
My breathing a little bit faster than normal,
A bit more shallow than I usually do.
Just noticing.
No judgment.
Next,
What we're going to do is a scan of our bodies.
So you can start from the top to the bottom or bottom to top and just notice where in your body are you feeling this extra energy,
This extra emotion.
Is it in one space or multiple spaces or do you just feel it all over?
Sometimes we feel it in our stomachs more.
Sometimes we feel it in our chest or our shoulders or jaws maybe have some tension.
Just noticing here.
Now we're going to take our palms together at heart center.
We're going to spend a moment here just feeling our palms press into one another,
Remembering to breathe.
We're going to start creating some friction here in our palms.
So we're going to start moving our palms up and down together,
Sliding them against one another and do this as fast or slow as feels right to you.
What we're wanting to do here is now imagine wherever that extra energy,
That extra emotion that you're feeling in your body,
Imagine it traveling up or down to your palms.
Imagine as we're making this motion with our hands that we're collecting all of that energy here between our palms.
Take a few moments here and see if you can gather most or all of that excess energy from your body into the space between your palms as you continue to shift your hands back and forth against one another.
When you feel ready,
Go ahead and release your palms down to the side of your chair or down to the material next to you,
Press them onto the earth,
Into the ground and really feel all of that energy that we collected in our palms flowing out down into the earth.
Imagine all of that excess emotion flowing out of your palms,
Out of each fingertip making its way down to the earth.
Now the earth can do a really beautiful thing with this energy.
The earth can transmute it into something like love,
Joy and healing and growth.
Our bodies aren't meant to do that,
But the earth can.
So as you feel your palms pressing down onto the ground or to the material around you,
Imagine any of the remaining energy in your body that we want to release flowing out of your palms down into the earth to be transmuted into something beautiful.
And perhaps taking a moment of gratitude here for the earth for this amazing thing that it can do for us.
When you feel ready,
You can release your palms from the earth,
Release your palms from the material around you.
You can place them on your knees or on your thighs or bring them together again at heart center,
Whatever feels most comfortable.
And we'll take three collective breaths here to close our practice together.
So we'll breathe in for five seconds,
Pause at the top and release.
So let's do this all together.
Inhale,
Pause and release.
Good.
Again,
Inhale,
Pause and release.
One more together.
Inhale,
Pause and release.
Take a moment here.
Take as long as you want or can to spend in this space.
Really enjoy that feeling of release.
