In this meditation we look to soothe an aching heart. We learn to welcome the emotions that arise and release what we need to in the moment, then allow a soothing light to wash over us. As with any meditation or meditative practice that can leave us in a relaxed state, please remember to exercise the necessary caution and steps to ensure safety and health, such as avoiding driving or operating heavy machinery during or immediately following the practice.

Hello and welcome.

In this meditation,

We'll be working towards soothing even if just a little bit a hurting heart.

It seems that the more years we have on this planet,

The more heartache we experience.

Sometimes even the depth of that heartache seems to increase.

One thing remains the same,

Which is it is extremely painful to go through.

We can sometimes feel physical pain when we've had a loss that is so great.

Sometimes we have questions,

Sometimes we have confusion,

Sometimes we have anger and other intense emotions that come up.

Sometimes it seems that there is nothing that will ever be able to soothe the amount of pain and other times we might feel moments of relief here and there.

Surprising is when we can find ourselves in more and more of those moments strung together.

Now I invite you to find a comfortable seat,

Either sitting upright or laying down.

And if you feel comfortable,

I invite you to gently close your eyes or find a spot to gaze upon on the floor or on the wall ahead of you.

And as you settle in,

Just start to notice your breath.

And perhaps if it is feeling right for your body today,

Notice how it would feel to increase the length of your inhales and your exhales.

Just take a few moments here,

Just noticing.

And now I invite you to shift your attention to your heart space.

And if it feels comfortable,

You can place one or both hands over your heart.

And just start to notice what you feel.

Notice any sensations that are coming up.

Notice if your heart is beating fast or slow.

Notice if there's any tightness or any heaviness that you feel.

And now I invite you to shift your attention to your energetic heart space.

And this area is about two feet away from your physical body.

I'd just like you to shift your attention there.

And if it's comfortable or feels helpful,

You can always stretch out one or both hands and see if you can feel any sensations there.

Again,

Shifting your focus to that heart space out in front of you.

What do you notice in that space?

Do you notice any shapes or any colors or any objects?

Do you notice any people or people's energies?

Take a few moments here and just kind of explore this space.

See what you can observe.

And remember there's no right or wrong.

It's really just whatever's coming up for you.

And now check in and see if there are any feelings,

Any emotions that are coming up.

And just take a few moments here to observe.

And can you welcome these emotions and these sensations into the space?

Can you just observe them as they're here?

What might they be trying to tell us?

What messages might they have for us?

And can we make the space to receive those messages?

And can we acknowledge and honor those feelings,

Those emotions,

Those sensations as they're here with us right now,

Just as they are?

And now let's begin to gently bring our attention back to our physical heart space in our bodies,

Placing one or both hands on our hearts if that feels comfortable,

Or perhaps one hand on our heart and one hand on our belly.

And let's shift our attention to the space just right above our head.

And imagine above this space there is a source of light.

And imagine this source of light is soothing,

Comforting,

Loving energy.

And imagine if this type of light had a color,

What color might that be?

And now imagine that's where some light expanding outward.

And imagine it washing all over your body and your energetic space in front of you and behind you.

Imagine as this light is pouring over you,

You're also breathing in that soothing,

Comforting,

Loving energy.

And imagine if even if just temporarily this beautiful light can be concentrated in your physical heart space.

And imagine if this beautiful light could also be concentrated in your energetic heart space where you really need it the most.

Let's take a few moments here and spend some time in this space with this soothing,

Comforting,

Loving light washed all around you and all around your energetic space.

Breathing in more and more deeply and allowing that light into every cell of your body.

Allow any emotion to come and to flow through your body.

And releasing any that you need to release.

Now I invite you to gently shift your attention.

To the chair that you're sitting in.

Or the bed or couch you might be laying on.

Or the ground beneath you.

And really feel all parts of your body that are connected to these spaces and connected to the earth.

It's below you,

Holding you,

Supporting you always.

Take a moment here just to really feel that strong connection.

And when you're ready,

I invite you to start to wiggle your toes,

Wiggle your fingers and gently blink your eyes back open and come on back into the room or the space that you're in.

Let's close our practice together with three collective breaths.

Inhale in.

Pause and release.

Inhale in.

Pause and release.

Inhale in.

Pause and release.

You are part of a collective of energy.

Even if sometimes we don't see it,

It's always there.

You are part of a collective of energy.
