Hello,
Liz Doyle,
The Positive Change Coach here.
For this meditation,
You might like to grab yourself a cushion or a pillow or a soft toy,
A teddy maybe,
Because you'll be soothing your inner child during this meditation.
So when you're in a quiet space and you can sit or lie back,
Just gently close your eyes and move your focus to your breath.
Take a long,
Deep,
Slow breath in.
Focus on your breath traveling down into the lungs and breathe out slowly,
Focusing on your exhalation.
And as you breathe in and out,
You feel yourself become more relaxed,
Become more comfortable and at peace.
Now,
As though you are an observer of your own life,
Go back over the last two or three weeks and notice times when you have felt scared or worried,
Fearful about something.
Just notice.
Be aware.
Where were you?
Was anyone with you?
Try not to judge or criticize.
Just notice.
What was going on?
Breathe in and breathe out.
Why were you triggered?
Was it something from your past?
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Now,
I want you to imagine that you're talking with your inner child that resides within you or even your inner teenager about your fears and your worries.
Listen to your inner child.
Be there for your inner child.
They need your love.
They need to feel safe.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Now,
Go back in time again,
Letting your mind go to a time you felt very scared and maybe lonely.
How old were you?
What was going on for you?
Just notice.
Be aware.
Where were you?
Was anyone with you?
Just sit with this and breathe in and breathe out.
What feelings were you suppressing?
Accept that this was your way of coping at the time.
Feel compassion and love for yourself.
Now,
Imagine the adult self you are now telling your younger age,
I love you.
You were doing the best you could.
Let's work together to change these old patterns.
I am with you.
You are never on your own.
You are safe.
Tell yourself anything else you need to hear.
Now,
Imagine you are looking at yourself in the mirror.
Tell yourself,
I understand more now.
I truly do love and accept you just the way you are.
You are safe.
You are loved.
You matter.
Continue to comfort the child and tell your inner child that they are safe and they are loved.
Soothe your inner child.
Now,
Very slowly,
Start to bring your awareness back to this present moment and to the space you are in.
Take some easy breaths and move your body in a way that feels good.
And when you are ready,
You can gently open your eyes and an affirmation you can use anytime you need to is,
I am always safe.
And say it over and over again so that you can soothe yourself and your inner child.
I am always safe.
Thank you for joining me.
Much love.
