Nadi Shodhana, or “alternate nostril breathing,” is a simple and effective way to center, purify and balance. This meditation is primarily aimed at clearing and purifying the subtle channels of the mind-body organism, while balancing its masculine and feminine aspects. DO before bed, in the afternoon for a quick reset, or first thing in the morning.

You are listening to the Motherhood Unstressed Podcast and I'm your host Liz Carlisle.

Thank you so much for tuning in and taking the time for yourself,

For your mental health,

For your spiritual health,

For your sanity,

Sitting down and getting centered for the mere goal of coming back to who you are.

It's a lot harder than you might think,

But you're here and you press play and you should absolutely give yourself credit for that because most people won't do this.

This is a meditation for the person who doesn't have time to meditate and that's been me.

I'm sure that's been you.

That's been probably every parent this year with COVID.

This is a quick and effective way to drop in and connect with who you really are.

So let's not waste any time.

Get settled.

You can sit with your legs crossed,

Your hands gently resting on your knees or you can do this meditation sitting in a chair or lying on the couch.

It doesn't matter how you get settled.

The point is to be quiet,

Present and alert.

So let's take a deep breath in now together and hold at the top and let it go through your nose.

Again,

Deep breath in.

Hold at the top.

Let it go through your nose.

Again,

Deep breath in.

Hold.

Let it go.

This time I want you to breathe in and cover one nostril.

Deep breath in.

And then when you blow out,

Cover the other nostril and keep switching,

Alternating nostrils with every in breath and out breath and just go at your own pace.

Now I want you to breathe in through the nostril that you just breathed out and we're going to be switching sides.

So exactly what you were doing on one side,

Now we're doing on the other.

We'll do two more.

One more.

Let's take a deep breath in.

This time exhale through your mouth.

I'm going to leave you to breathe normally for about a minute.

As you sink in deeper,

Now that you have calmed down your body through this nasal breathing,

I want you to become intensely present because you know that you only have less than a minute.

This is your time.

Don't waste it.

Take full advantage of all the brain benefits,

All of the heart benefits,

All of the soul benefits that you have given yourself right now.

Let's take a deep breath in.

Now inhale your breath in deeper.

Come back now to full consciousness.

Embody your body.

Can wiggle your fingers and toes.

Flutter your eyes open.

Do some gentle neck rolls,

Some shoulder rolls,

Whatever you need to feel fully present and loose and comfortable in your amazing body.

That small act,

That small meditation that we just did together and with so many other people all over the world was enough to shift your vibration towards positivity.

And that shift impacts the rest of the world,

The rest of the universe.

I believe that.

So thank you.

Thank you for doing your part.

I hope you feel the benefits in your body right now and the connection to me and to all the other people who just did this meditation with you.

I hope you have a wonderful day.
