All of us can get emotionally drained by the end of the day.
It happens.
We can get drained by what we have on our plate,
We can take on the energy of a situation or a space,
And we can also take on the energy of others.
Sadness,
Loneliness,
Frustration,
Anger,
Anxiety,
It can all wear off on us if we're around others expressing these and other strong challenging emotions.
If we're already exhausted and overwhelmed,
Then we can sometimes be even more sensitive to the energy of others.
When our reserves are empty,
It's easy to let one thing spill over and touch everything else.
So this practice will help you reset your energy as you drift into sleep.
If you haven't already,
You can let your eyes gently close,
Shift your body around,
Just get comfortable,
And just come into the body,
Taking one slow,
Deep inhale and exhale.
Now allow the breath to breathe itself,
Inhaling and exhaling naturally at your own pace,
Letting the belly be loose and soft,
Breathing however feels most comfortable to you,
Just observing the breath,
Noticing how it is.
Let your body feel heavy,
Letting yourself sink deeper into the surface beneath you,
Letting the body get even heavier,
Sinking deeper and deeper.
Now I'd like you to imagine a person whose energy has been affecting you.
See that person now and notice how you feel in your body as you imagine this situation.
Sometimes we unknowingly take on other people's energy or their emotional state and it can be helpful to send this energy back to them so they can reclaim it and so you can release it and just let it go.
This process is completely harmless for both you and the other person,
Even if you are sending back what you deem to be negative emotions.
It's all simply energy and you're returning that energy to its rightful owner.
So seeing that person again in your mind's eye,
Whose emotions or energy has had an impact on you recently,
And while imagining this person,
Just start to release any of their energy that's in your space by saying,
I now release all of your energy.
I send it back to you.
All of your energy that I've taken on,
I ask it to go back to you where it belongs.
Go on.
It's okay for you to leave now.
Go ahead.
Get out of my space.
You're no longer welcome here.
Please go back to your rightful owner.
And just visualizing all the little bits of energy floating back to this person.
I now release all of your energy.
I send it lovingly back to you.
All of your energy that I've taken on,
I ask it to go back to where it belongs.
You can leave now.
Go ahead.
Get out of my space.
You're no longer welcome here.
Please go back to your rightful owner.
And just see all of their energy returning back to them,
Feeling the release in your body as you let go of what's no longer serving you,
Just releasing,
Letting go of this other person's emotions,
As you sink deeper and deeper,
Feeling the body get heavier and heavier into the surface beneath you.
It's also possible that you've given some of your energy to this person unknowingly,
Which can leave us to feel depleted and even exhausted.
Now,
I want you to imagine that you can be a magnet for all of your energy returning back to you.
Imagine all of this energy has a magnetic pull towards you,
Calling your energy back,
Saying,
I now call my energy back from you.
Any of my energy that I've given to you,
I now call back.
Come back home to me where you belong.
And just imagine all the little bits of energy returning,
Being pulled back to you,
And just welcoming it back,
Saying,
Thank you for coming back.
You belong here.
And we can reclaim our energy from all the people we've interacted with today,
Reclaiming it all and watching all the little bits return back to ourselves,
Saying,
Thank you for coming back,
Seeing all the little bits returning.
You belong here.
And we can call back our energy from situations,
Places,
Even our devices,
Any energy that's been drained from you today.
Visualize the little bits of energy returning,
Feeling all of your energy return,
And saying,
Thank you.
Thank you for returning back to your rightful owner.
And then feeling the body get heavier and heavier,
Sinking deep down,
Into the surface beneath you,
Feeling the feet get heavy,
Feeling the legs get heavier and heavier,
Sinking deep down,
Down,
Down,
Down.
And the hips sinking deeper,
And the belly relaxing,
And the torso and back just sinking down,
Down,
Down,
And the shoulders and the arms sinking deep,
Deep,
Deep,
Getting heavier and heavier,
And the whole head releasing,
Sinking down,
Down,
Down.
And the whole body renewed and replenished with your energy.
Breathe into this feeling,
Enjoy it,
Savor it.
