This is a beautifully relaxing practice that invites us to maintain perspective and cultivate gratitude in 5 minutes. We will be asked to simply draw on a moment we are appreciative of, allowing a deep sense of peace and calm to set in. There are no right or wrong ways to feel. Practicing gratitude increases happiness. It’s that easy.

Please take a seat on the floor or in a chair and get comfortable,

Allowing your body to breathe naturally and easily.

Whenever we take time to be still,

We create a quiet time for reflection and awareness so we can bring more attention to everything that we do during the day.

Take a few deep breaths as you begin to turn your attention inward.

Use each breath as an opportunity for relaxing.

Reflect on one thing that went well yesterday.

In the beginning,

This might be challenging,

But with practice over time,

You'll start to feel an abundance of gratitude for everything you have and receive every day.

Reflecting on something that went well yesterday.

Did you help someone complete a task in the office?

Did you close a deal?

Nail a presentation?

Make someone laugh?

Bring a smile to someone's face?

Stick to your workout regimen?

Eat a healthy meal?

Send words of encouragement to a friend?

Take care of yourself by sleeping a little longer?

Bring one specific action to your mind.

How does it feel in your body to recall this event?

Remember there are no right or wrong ways to feel,

Just take notice of the sensations in your body.

Bring a sense of appreciation for your kind act or accomplishment as you replay the moment in your head and visualize the situation completely.

Let this sense of appreciation flood your body as you appreciate yourself and the beauty of the moment.

Notice how this sense of appreciation feels in your body.

Notice all the different sensations and perhaps a sense of calm that has come over your body.

Store the memory of this peaceful and calm sensation deep within your being so that it may be strengthened and recalled easier in the future.

And now please repeat the following statement silently to yourself.

Every day I am becoming more and more grateful of all that I have in my life.

I am grateful for family and friends and a place to live and food to eat.

I am grateful for the sun that shines every day and for all the life it creates.

I am thankful that I can learn and grow from experiences I may not have wanted to allow me to open up to greater awareness of myself and my world.

I am grateful for love that flows to me and through me.

I see this all as support for the journey that is my life.

Focus on yourself and your sensations again so that this feeling of appreciation fills your whole being,

Breathing in peacefully,

Breathing out peacefully,

At peace with yourself in the world.

Then slowly let these feelings ease and begin to focus on your breathing.

Slowly inhaling and exhaling.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Now come back to the sensation of sitting on the floor or in a chair and slowly open your eyes and return to the room.

Thank you.
