Welcome to this guided sleep story meditation called Pirates at the Seaside.
Please find your bed and claim it.
Jump into bed.
Grab your pillow and give it a mighty squeeze if you please.
Make your pillow really fluffy.
Settle down and rest your head onto your dreamy pillow.
At the count of three,
Squeeze all the body tight.
One,
Two,
Three.
Nice and tight.
Muscle tight.
Now please relax and still now.
Closing one eye like a pirate with a patch on his eye.
Closing the next eye to begin the dream story.
Pirates at the Seaside.
This is a true story.
For girls too love pirates as much as boys.
Let's find out why everyone loves pirates.
So a day at the seaside with my twin sister.
And at the seashore where rides upon a pirate ship we both did see.
Looking like it came out of a fairy tale.
Now much later in life,
For life itself is a story.
For who would have thought that just me would travel so far from home.
Where I would see a similar pirate ship in the faraway land of Hong Kong.
The Chinese junk boats with a special one on the harbour for all the tourists on holiday.
Had most definitely a pirate look about it.
Such beautiful curves and shapes and colours and flags,
Sails like a colourful picture.
Did you know the Chinese junk boats is one of the most successful types of sailing ships in history.
First developed in 220 BC.
They could carry up to 700 passengers and often used for long voyages.
Giant junk boats carried goods from Africa and India and the sailors hung red flags to please dragons they believed lived in the sea.
So that would be a swimming dragon of course.
But back to the beginning.
As a little child with my twin sister who has always loved anything to do with pirates.
Why?
Why do you like pirates so much?
I asked Wendy.
Wendy's eyes lit up but I still remained puzzled.
All that beautiful treasure said Wendy.
All pirates have a treasure chest.
No time to be boring,
Every day is different.
For sailors at sea sailing to new places.
Islands to be discovered.
Battles to be won.
Their love for parrots,
The talking ones of course.
And clever monkeys that the captain really loves.
A bottle of rum and singing their songs.
Out on the big big open sea.
Through all kinds of weather.
A storm would brew and all the crew with all their muscles set all their sails.
And play with the mightiest of sea winds.
For ships can travel fast and forwards with gales behind its wings.
Tattoos on skin from exotic places they've been.
Stories at night some would give you a fright.
Superstition,
Luck was essential.
Casting good luck spells and lucky habits.
Land and sea,
A wonderful life that's the ticket.
Life ever changing always something new to see.
Finding new plants and new animals.
Where far away places are found by sea.
Meeting new people that speak a different tone.
Lots of healthy sea air.
Breathing in now lots of sea air.
Sunshine brown and tanned skins.
Sea legs and swimming with dolphins.
Did you know dolphins are playful and very clever?
Eating fish every night.
Collecting pearls from oysters galore.
It's a wonderful life to be a pirate in this colourful world.
They cover every corner of this world.
No stone left unturned.
They write down all their news in the captain's book like a diary.
And a book of knowledge.
All is kept on ship in the treasure chest.
Marking history as they go.
They buy,
They sell,
Bargain and swap.
They are strong and can see right into your soul.
As Wendy leaned over looking deeply at me.
They speak many languages when they stay here and there.
They do not worry but happy to be alive.
And love their captain.
His wise old head and all true friends looking after each other.
So pirates are the heroes said Wendy.
And explorers of this great world.
And have seen it all.
What a wonderful life.
And that's why I love everything about pirates.
What a life,
What a ball.
So thank you for listening to why Wendy loves pirates.
I think it's time to sleep and dream about it all really.
Have a big,
Big dream.
Make it colourful.
Go to sleep now if you please.
Dreaming and sleeping.
Dreaming.
Dreaming.
