Hello and welcome to this meditation on relaxing tension stored in the head and the face.
A lot of times we can store tension in our faces without even realizing.
This can manifest as clenching our jaw,
Furrowing our brows,
Or pursing our lips.
And in our practice this can serve as a blockage to relaxation due to the store tension.
And also in our social interactions this can negatively affect our interactions with others as we may appear tense or angry when the muscles in our face are tightened up.
So in this meditation we will help dissolve this tension by imagining that there is a warm candle over our head and this candle is warming.
It serves to burn up any tension stored in our head and in our face.
We will also visualize that this candle is dripping this waxy like material that spreads over the crown of her head and trickles down.
So eventually her entire face is covered with this warming elixir that comes from this wax.
So let's get started.
Let's start by proactively releasing tension by first taking a very big yawn,
Softening up the muscles in her jaw,
In her neck,
And in her throat.
You may also choose to sigh here or take a few head circles going clockwise and then counterclockwise.
And then bring your head to center and find stillness.
Take a moment to close your eyes and visualize a lit candle that is a few inches above the crown of your head.
Feel the heat emanating from the flame of the candle and notice how it warms up the crown of your head.
Begin to see that the heat emanating from the candle begins to produce wax.
But see this wax that is now dripping from this candle as a healing substance that has the ability to melt away any tension stored in the head.
Begin to visualize and feel this wax now drip on to the crown of your head and feel its warmth now begin to melt away any tension and tightness stored at the crown of the head.
As the candle above your head warms up even more on the candle flame,
Begin to see this waxy like substance start to drip onto the crown of your head even more.
Now spreading and trickling down from the head to the temples and down to your forehead and the back of your head.
Begin to observe that as this warm and healing wax begins to drip down the forehead,
Down the temples,
And down the back of your head,
That it begins to burn away any stored tension and tightness in these areas.
As a candle above your head continues to burn brightly,
It begins to drip more and more wax that begins to spill onto your crown of your head,
Goes down to your forehead,
Temples,
The back of the head.
And see this wax begin to now drip further down your face,
Coming into contact with your eyebrows and your eyes,
Softening any tension in these areas.
Gently allow the eyebrows and the eyes to soften and relax,
And visualize any tension stored in these areas begin to melt and dissolve.
Begin to also observe the heat from the wax begin to trickle down the back of your head.
See it melt away any tension as it trickles down to the base of your head.
Visualize the areas that are currently warmed by this candle above your head.
Once again,
Just feel the wax produced by this candle that drips down the scalp,
The back of the head,
The forehead,
To the eyebrows,
The eyes,
And see these areas free of any tension and tightness.
Begin to now see this heat on the wax now trickle down further to the nose and mouth.
See it also trickle down the cheeks.
And if there's any tension in these areas,
Especially the lips,
The nose,
The cheeks,
See it melt away as you begin to relax into these areas.
As more of this healing wax begins to trickle down your head and your face,
See it now trickle down your ears and your jaw.
This is typically a place of tightness for a lot of people.
So take a lot of time here to notice the tension and tightness in your jaw area.
Begin to slowly dissipate as the heat from the candle above you and its wax begin to melt away the stored tension.
As this wax begins to trickle down the cheeks and the jaw,
Begin to also see it trickle down from your nose and the lips down to the chin area.
And see any tension stored in the chin begin to melt away.
As the candle above your head continues to burn,
Notice that the wax keeps trickling down,
And observe that your entire head and face from both front and back and the sides are completely submerged with this beautiful wax.
And notice that no part of your head and face isn't submerged with this warm healing wax that melts away tension.
Notice the warmth that you feel in your head and your face.
And notice how relaxed you feel in this present moment,
Free of tension and basking in this warm glow.
As we end this meditation,
Notice how you're feeling now compared to the beginning of this meditation.
And keep in mind that throughout your day you can always come back to this feeling of relaxation by briefly imagining a candle above your head that warms and melts away any tension stored in the head and the face.
You can visualize throughout your day waxy-like substance coming from the candle that spills over areas of tightness and tension.
When you're ready,
You can open your eyes and bring your hands to heart center.
Thank yourself for taking the time to meditate today.
