Why do we become so caught in our thoughts, emotions, and stories? In this fourth video of the Living the Yoga Sutras series, we explore Yoga Sutra 1.4: Vṛtti-sārūpyam itaratra Vṛtti — a movement, thought, pattern, or fluctuation of the mind Sārūpyam — taking the same form; becoming identified with Itaratra — at other times; otherwise Together, the sutra means: At other times, the Seer identifies with the movements of the mind. This teaching helps us understand how a passing thought can become a story, how an emotion can become an identity, and how old patterns can shape the way we see ourselves and the world. You are also invited to join the Living the Yoga Sutras Insight Timer group to ask questions, access related meditations and Yoga Nidra practices, share reflections, and connect with other seekers. You are not every thought that arises. You are invited to notice, pause, and remember: This is present. This is known. This is not the whole of me.
