Welcome,
This is a mindfulness exercise to give you strength during difficult times.
So start by sitting or lying in a comfortable position.
Close your eyes and then take the time to breathe.
Remember to take slow,
Deep,
Soothing breaths.
And as you continue to breathe,
Think back to a previous time in your life that was hard.
One that in the moment in question,
You doubted whether you would ever be able to survive it.
As you continue to take slow,
Deep,
Soothing breaths,
Take a moment to then acknowledge that you did indeed make it through that challenging time.
Take a moment to acknowledge how strong this made you and how it proves that you are resilient and capable in the face of adversity.
Then remind yourself that you are still that same strong,
Capable person and that just how you were able to get through that previous difficult time when you didn't think you could,
You will be able to get through whatever difficulties you are facing now as well.
And a helpful way of reminding yourself of this is to repeat the following positive affirmation to yourself like a mantra.
And the affirmation goes,
I was strong enough to get through that and therefore I can get through this too.
And then when you feel ready,
Release this memory from your focus and choose another challenging time from your life to bring awareness to.
Repeat the same process for that incident as well.
And continue doing so for as many past challenges as you'd like.
And if you do this simple exercise when you are going through a difficult time,
Then it can really help to give you strength.
