Hi,
I'm Lori and thanks for joining me on this walk through an old growth forest.
Please imagine that you're on the edge of a beautiful old growth forest.
In front of you are cedar trees and hemlock trees,
Spruce and pine.
So many different kinds of trees.
Along the forest floor there's a gentle pathway meandering through the trees.
Light moss dots the edges of this pathway,
As do small bushes and shrubs,
Small plants.
There's a very earthy smell in the air.
As you look around,
You notice the rays of sun beaming through different parts of the forest.
You can see the rays clearly.
It's a beautiful day.
As you start your walk,
You notice how spongy the forest floor is underfoot.
It's so soft,
So cushiony with every step.
You can hear the sounds of the birds above.
They're singing and talking away.
The air smells sweet and fresh,
Like just after a fallen rain.
It's very peaceful here.
As you walk along the path,
There's a tree up ahead that catches your eye.
It's a very old tree,
A very large tree,
But it's right on the edge of the path.
As you approach it,
You can feel its energy,
Just wisdom and knowledge.
Reach out and touch the tree.
Its bark is cool and rough,
But just become one with it.
Just listen to it.
Just feel it.
It has great wisdom.
Imagine its roots deep into the earth under the path you're on and beyond.
Imagine how large and deep they must go.
Imagine other trees around it,
Their roots intertwining,
Connecting,
Helping them communicate,
Nurture one another,
And comfort one another.
The forest is alive with its own pulse of energy grounded deep in the earth.
Pull the earth energy up through your legs as you're standing there,
Touching the tree,
Connecting and communicating with the tree.
Pull the earth energy up through you.
Allow the tree to have some as well.
Visualize it coming up through you and out your hand as you touch the tree.
Now look around at the bushes below the tree,
Around the tree and along the path.
They're vibrant,
Different shades of greens and yellows.
There's light dew on all the larger leaves.
You can see fallen trees and where moss has accumulated and grown over the years,
Allowing new trees to sprout and grow through,
Helping nurture and helping the tree cycle continue on and on.
The energy and the vibrance of the forest plants all around you is filling you and recharging you.
Breathe it in.
Feel the energy of the birds.
Feel the energy of the animals in the forest.
Appreciate their contribution to your life.
Feel the pulse of the earth under your feet,
The energy running up and through you.
You're connected to this earth,
The trees,
The ground,
The animals,
The plants.
We're all in this together.
Now continue on your walk.
Slowly as the trail meanders past,
Larger trees and smaller trees,
You notice there's stumps from where dangerous trees were fallen years gone by.
You can hear a little brook in the background as you're walking past.
You can't see it yet,
But it must be running off to the side far off where you are.
It seems to be getting louder.
When you turn the corner,
You come around over and across a little wooden bridge that goes over top of that creek you heard.
The forest from where you're on the bridge looking down at the water.
Suns coming through the branches of the trees above warming your back.
Everything bright and peaceful.
The air is moist and damp here,
But it's fresh and clean.
You're sparkling.
You turn and continue on your walk through the forest along this soft,
Beady trail,
Passing ferns along the edge and fiddleheads.
There's salmon berries and bramble berries along the way as well.
The old growth forest has so many fallen trees where new trees and new plant life have sprouted up.
The cycle of life is very apparent here.
As we round the bend,
There's a more earthy smell,
An area of more fallen trees,
More dampness.
It's beautiful through here.
We keep walking on through the forest until there's an area where there's three logs in our path.
We're tiered though so we can step up upon them.
So one at a time,
Hop up on the logs.
When you get to the last one,
Turn around and look backwards.
Once from once you came backwards over the forest trail,
That forest path.
It's beautiful,
The sun shining through the trees,
The glistening water on the leaves sparkling in the rays of sun.
The sound of the birds,
The trees blowing in the wind.
It's beautiful here.
But it's time to turn now,
Jump off the logs and go back and start our day.
So say goodbye to the forest.
Thank it for its peaceful journey,
Its connectiveness and love.
And head on back down the path,
Leading your way out of the forest.
Thanks for joining me,
Lori.
