As you settle in for the night,
This is your time to let go.
There is nothing more to solve,
Nothing more to figure out,
Nothing more required of you.
The day is done and you can begin to release it now.
Let your body rest in a comfortable position.
Allow your hands to soften and gently close your eyes.
Take a slow breath in through your nose and exhale gently through your mouth.
Again,
Taking a nice slow breath in and gently breathing out,
Letting the day begin to fall away.
And one more time,
Breathing in and as you breathe out,
Feel your body start to settle a little deeper.
Allow your breath to become slow and easy in its own natural rhythm.
There is nothing you need to control here.
Letting the exhale soften you a little more each time.
You might like to bring your awareness into your body.
Notice your face,
Softening your jaw,
Letting your tongue rest gently.
Just letting your head fall into the pillow and softening the muscles around the eyes.
Relaxing your shoulders and allow them to drop a little more.
Letting everything you've been carrying on your shoulders to fall away.
Noticing your chest and belly,
Rising and falling with every breath in and out.
Softening with each breath.
And you may like to gently ask yourself,
What am I still holding on to from today?
You do not need to figure it out,
Just notice what your body shows you.
A heaviness,
A sense of holding.
And as you breathe out,
Allow that area to soften even slightly.
No forcing,
Just a small release with the breath.
Breathing in and breathing out,
Letting go a little more.
And perhaps you can imagine a slow river,
Just moving gently in the dark.
This river does not rush,
It doesn't hold on to anything,
It simply carries and releases.
It flows with life,
And as you rest here,
You can begin to place anything from your day into that river.
A thought,
A conversation,
Something unfinished.
Something you wish you had done differently.
Whatever it is,
One by one.
Placing it into the water.
And letting it drift away.
You do not need to carry it right now.
You do not need to solve it in this moment.
All you need to do is let it go.
And as you do,
Gently notice your body,
Maybe your chest softens.
Your jaw releases.
Your breath deepens,
Without you even trying.
And if your mind brings something back,
That's okay.
Gently place it into the water and let it go.
There is nothing you need to hold on to right now.
And if any emotion rises,
Let it move through.
There's no need for resistance,
No pressure.
And you may like to quietly repeat to yourself,
Or just hear these words.
I release what I cannot change.
Letting those words settle,
Not as something to believe,
But something to soften into.
Perhaps your body now is heavier,
More supported,
More held.
The surface beneath you is holding your weight.
Your body no longer needing to stay alert.
It's so good to have nothing to do and nowhere to go,
Only to rest.
Gently breathing in and breathing out.
Letting the gentle sound of the river to rest your whole body.
Taking away what you no longer need.
Leaving you to breathe in and breathe out.
Your body knows how to rest and your mind knows how to quieten down.
And if any thoughts come into mind,
You can easily let them pass,
Like the river flowing downstream.
And there's no need to follow them.
Just breathing in and breathing out.
How good it feels there is nothing more needed.
Just drifting in your own time into a deep restful sleep.
