A gentle and easy to follow guided sleep meditation to include in your child's bedtime routine. It is designed to help your child wind down and settle into bed. Using a simple relaxation practice, your child will relax into sleep, gradually feeling heavier and sleepier and eventually drifting off into peaceful slumber.

Transcript

Let's get snuggly in your bed.

Lie on your back,

Make sure you're very comfortable and that everything feels just right.

Now let's do a big body squeeze to help your whole body feel relaxed and floppy.

Take a big breath in through your nose and at the same time squeeze your body tight,

Really tight,

Squeezing your hands into fists,

Tighten your legs,

Arms and bottom.

Screw up your face to make a funny face.

Now as you breathe out through your mouth let everything go.

Let everything be soft and heavy.

Feel as though your arms and your legs are soft and floppy.

Do any extra wriggles that you need to do now so you can be completely comfortable for our magical adventure on the inside.

Now notice the feeling of your bed underneath you,

How warm and comfy it is.

Feel the heaviness of your body and imagine your body sinking down into the bed covered by all the comfy blankets.

Now imagine that your bed has magically grown wings and can fly.

Imagine you and your bed gently lifting up out of this room and outside.

See yourself hovering above your house,

Check out the roof.

You feel safe,

Warm and happy as you start to drift above the neighbourhood,

Higher and higher up into the sky.

What can you see around you?

Perhaps birds flying past giving you a friendly wave,

Maybe aeroplanes,

A hot air balloon or even a rocket ship.

The moon and so many stars.

What can you see below you?

Rooftops,

Streetlights,

Mountains,

A beach.

Let your imagination wander and take in all the beautiful sights.

Now imagine seeing the most beautiful rainbow in front of you,

A special rainbow just for you.

Your bed floats so close to the rainbow,

So close you can reach out and touch it.

What does it feel like?

Now choose your very favourite rainbow colour.

Imagine you are a blank sheet of paper and you can completely colour yourself in with this colour.

Pick your favourite pencils,

Maybe even use paint,

This is your special piece of artwork.

Colour your whole body in,

Your fingers,

Your toes,

Your belly and don't forget your back.

Colouring in your face with your favourite rainbow colour.

When you are finished colouring it's time to float back down from the sky and into your room.

Feel your breathing,

Notice your chest and belly moving up and down with your breath.

Feel into your body and notice the comfy bed underneath you and the soft lovely blankets covering you.

It's time now for your sleep but remember you can always go on a rainbow adventure any time you wish.

Our eyes feel so heavy,

Feeling so sleepy as we drift off to sleep.

Night night,

Sweet dreams.
