Practice To Super-Oxygenate The Blood For Healing
by Katrina Bos
This guided practice helps bring in more oxygen to your body through visualization, by presenting you relaxing images and pointing your focus to where your breath is. Find a quiet space and enjoy the breath flow through you.
Transcript
Come sitting comfortably in a seated position,
Either on the floor,
On a chair,
Or you can also do this lying in bed.
Imagine sitting tall,
Pressing your roots into the earth,
The crown of your head reaching for the sky,
Allowing your belly to expand on the inhale,
Contracting on the exhale,
Relaxing your shoulders effortlessly.
Allow your body to breathe however it needs to.
Our intention is to increase the oxygen in the blood,
To feed the body with healing energy,
To spread light throughout the body,
To increase flow and heal blockages,
To release them into the flow.
Focusing on your inhale,
Feel the breath pass through your nostrils,
Allowing oxygen,
Prana,
To enter the body.
Feel that energy moving into the body,
Brushing by the hairs within the nose,
Feeling the cool breath as it enters into the body's warmth.
Now imagine your heart,
Your physical heart pumping energy,
Pumping blood to all the parts of the body,
Reaching every organ,
Every skin cell,
Every bone,
Every ligament,
Every muscle.
And now feel your breath merging with that blood.
Every breath blending oxygen into the blood and feeling that oxygen carried to every part of your body.
Imagine every molecule of oxygen like a bead of light flowing through your bloodstream.
If there are areas of your body that need some extra help,
Allow your focus to flow there.
Maybe breathe a little bit deeper,
Bring in extra breath,
Extra prana,
Extra oxygen.
Feel that light,
That healing energy swirling around the part of your body that needs the extra attention,
The extra care,
Where there's a blockage,
Inflammation,
Where there's pain.
Visualize that light alleviating it,
Letting it go.
Feel that light effortlessly merging with whatever it finds and making it a little bit more relaxed and trust that the energy knows where to go next.
Observe it,
Observe it swirling around,
Finding the spots,
Looking for the areas for exactly the right place to enter.
If your body feels the need to move a little while this is happening,
That's fine.
If your body wants to stay still,
That's also fine.
Continue focusing on your breath,
Expanding the belly as you inhale,
Contracting as you exhale.
Imagine that as this light is heading towards the areas that need it,
As you exhale,
You are releasing whatever you find.
As we inhale,
This light from our breath flowing towards the area,
Nourishing it.
As we exhale,
The darkness,
Whatever matter is in there,
Whatever we no longer need and releasing it.
Maybe it had purpose at one time,
Maybe that part of our body needed protection,
Extra stability.
Maybe our body was healing or reacting to something in our past,
But we don't need it anymore,
So we will let it go.
Seeing that our body will deliver the energy to wherever it's needed,
Let's expand the breath even more.
As you inhale,
Imagine breathing into your back.
Feel the backs of your lungs expanding as you inhale and releasing as you exhale.
Imagine someone's hands were gently placed on the back of your body and every time you inhale you would actually move their hands ever so slightly.
Expanding the backs of the lungs into the corners that don't normally see the light.
The bottom of the lungs,
The tops of the lungs,
The sides under your arms.
With every inhale,
Feel the belly expand and the back expand,
Bringing even more oxygen into the body.
See if you would like to change position.
You could sit up taller,
You could stretch your legs,
You could move your arms and then breathe again.
You could be in a yoga posture that you're familiar with,
Whatever comes to you.
Or you could lie completely still,
Focusing on the breath,
Feeling this beautiful flow throughout the body,
All the way down to your toes,
Your ankles,
Your knees,
Your hips.
Feeling this flow into the lower part of your body,
Into your baby toe,
The backs of your knees,
The front of the knees,
Your calves.
And then feeling this breath moving up into your upper body,
Swirling around your belly,
Touching all of your organs,
Your stomach,
Liver,
Kidneys,
Pancreas,
Healing anything it finds and letting whatever isn't needed to go.
Feel your breath move up into your chest cavity and into the arms and fingertips,
Swirling around your shoulders,
Releasing anything it finds that has built up over time.
Breathing into your shoulders,
The elbows,
Your wrists,
Down through your fingertips,
Your pinky finger,
Your thumb.
And then feeling your breath come up into your face,
Feeling it in the skin,
In your eyes,
In your ears,
Releasing any tension you are holding in your face,
Your cheekbones,
And your jaw.
As this energy enters your jaw,
Feel tension release in your pelvis.
They are connected.
Feel the energy move towards your scalp,
Releasing tension that you didn't even know was there.
Your skull is made of multiple bones and plates that are designed to move independently as we breathe.
Breathe into those bones,
Allow them to move independently,
Releasing any pressure,
Connection.
And remembering that you can move any part of your body if you feel called to.
When we release energy or blockages,
Sometimes we can help by just moving various parts of the body ever so gently.
You may not understand why.
Just trust the wisdom in your body and your breath,
Trusting your own wisdom,
Knowing that you know in every moment what's best for you.
There are no rules.
We have to release them too.
What if these rules are what are stuck in our bodies and joints,
That they are part of these blockages?
Just breathing deeply,
Allowing this beautiful divine flow to heal everything in our body.
However you are right now,
Come to stillness.
Observe your body breathing.
Observe your body's natural ability to receive oxygen from the world around us and how it cleanses the body with every breath and how we go through our day knowing that we are constantly renewed with every breath.
Every breath nourishes us.
Every breath releases yesterday.
Every breath is a new beginning.

I just learned that I have a vitamin D deficiency, which is associated with lower oxygen saturation in the blood. About 30 minutes ago, I was sitting calmly, reading a book, when out of nowhere I felt dizzy and slightly out of breath. These are a couple symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. It was a momentary sensation, but it triggered a fight or flight response, which I havenโt experienced in years. Even after my rational brain took over (youโre OK, no need to panic), my body felt weak and I still couldnโt get a full breath of air. This meditation was exactly what I needed in the moment. I was soon breathing deeply and calmly and my body and nervous system started to relax, which I attribute to the deep breathing and gentle guidance. I plan to practice this meditation daily as I build up my oxygen levels - and will continue beyond for continued wellbeing. Grateful for Insight Timer. Grateful for this meditation. Grateful that I found both.

this practice helped me achieve a gentle opening of my third eye and heart chakras. turning control of my body over to my breath and the wisdom it carries is most freeing. I thoroughly enjoyed the music accompanying the guided meditation; it brought a deep level of inquisition to the witnessing of energy moving throughout my body. grateful to partake in the transformative healing of breathwork ๐๐๐พ.

Perfectly relaxing yet energizing. Especially love the guidance to breathe into the backs and corners of lungs. And, of course, the peaceful waves of music so naturally support your words. Well done!

An excellent practice, better even than I had tentatively hoped for. I have a medical condition that makes coordination of some of my muscles and joints tricky, and breathing on one side is affected by this. I've tried the usual breathing exercises, and having been both a singer and a player of wind instruments (as well as a squad leader in the military), I know what a deep, revitalizing breath can feel like. I have missed that over the last few years, but I felt it again today with this practice. The physical issues are still present, but with this practice, I was able to deliberately focus on various places to direct the breath instead of simply the "stuck place" as I have done before. It wasn't the rush of energy and clear thinking I used to get, but it was definitely there, and I welcomed it back with misty eyes and deeper breaths still. Bookmarked this one and added it to some of my topic-specific playlists. Thank you SO much for sharing the gift of breath with us. I see you and the light within you. Be well. ๐คฒ๐ปโค๐คฒ๐ป
