It is evening and time to put away all of the pieces of the day.
The moon has risen just as it did for kingdoms and generations of old.
It looked upon your ancestors,
Sending soft light into the darkness,
And it is here again to set you on your path to sleep.
Your conscious mind hears the soft sound of my voice,
And under the layers,
Your subconscious mind is listening as well.
It notices the moonlight,
Notices your lying down,
Notices your eyes are closed,
And it's taking those first steps toward deep sleep.
Just as a caterpillar knows innately how to spin its cocoon,
Your mind knows how to relax and rest.
Take three deep breaths and let your body release and begin to unwind on the exhale.
Let your body begin to melt in all directions.
Your thoughts are disappearing like smoke into the darkness,
And you concentrate on my words.
It is an enchanted evening and you are walking through a peaceful,
Friendly forest,
Taking time to enjoy the sights and sounds.
You notice the bouquets of fall leaves and the mighty ancient tree trunks.
Sitting in this lovely setting,
Being close to nature relaxes you.
You are at peace listening to a bubbling brook and wandering through the magic forest.
Time passes,
Twilight passes,
And you have walked a great ways.
The serenity of the forest has made you drowsy.
Except for the lightning bugs beginning to dance in the trees,
The forest is still.
You are safe and content as you watch the dark wings of night disperse the last rays of sunset.
The piles of leaves and soft forest coverings are suddenly irresistible and you lie down to rest.
You are warm and cozy and immediately relax into this comfortable nest.
Moonbeams softly reach their fingers through the limbs of the forest,
Caressing you.
They filter through the trees,
Making silhouettes on the back of your closed eyelids.
Look at the patterns there on your eyelids.
Imagine a dark spot and imagine yourself diving into it,
Getting closer and closer to peaceful dreams.
As it happens,
You are resting in a place which entertains a visitor each night.
An angel flies from high in the heavens to visit the mist-filled forest.
This is a treat for her to return to this magical spot,
Smelling the earth,
The trees,
And collecting discarded leaves.
She comes here to celebrate the night and she is delighted to find you resting on your soft bed.
She lands beside you and without a sound begins gently gathering stardust from her wings.
Her movements are as silent as final snowflakes falling and you continue in your rest,
Oblivious to your visitor.
The angel is pleased when she has formed a ball of soft,
Healing light.
Eager to help you sleep,
She bends to hold the heavenly light on the crown of your head.
As the healing light expands,
Your scalp releases.
Your forehead becomes smooth.
The light permeates your whole head,
Making your brain weigh heavily into your skull and your head sinks deeper into your soft pillow.
Your jaw relaxes.
Your mind is peaceful.
She moves the ball of light to your neck.
The mass swirls and swirls,
Relaxing all of the muscles and tendons there.
The microscopic particles of light weave their way into your nerves and tendons,
Healing,
Loosening,
Soothing.
You are sinking deeper and deeper toward your subconscious,
Getting more relaxed and more relaxed.
Your mind is still and foggy as you begin drifting.
You see visions of angels dancing in pairs in midair.
They are graceful as they waltz and whirl through the night sky.
Finally,
The angels tire and rest on clouds.
Your angel divides the healing mass in half and places a small ball on each shoulder.
Your shoulders descend as they become heavy.
As the ball works its magic,
Your shoulders become more and more pliable,
Looser and looser.
All of the muscles and nerves in your shoulders feel as if they are dispersing,
Melting away.
She moves the magical light slowly down your back.
The muscles on both sides of your spine become soft.
Your whole back melts.
Your spine is so relaxed you can almost feel the space between your vertebrae.
Perhaps you will choose to sleep here among the stars and the trees every night.
And perhaps shooting stars are not stars at all,
But angels coming down for a visit.
She holds the ball of light on your stomach.
Your pelvis relaxes,
Soft.
Your lower back releases.
Your mind is calm and your body feels limp and weightless.
You are drifting deeper,
Floating completely at peace.
The angel holds the ball of light on your knees.
The swirling mass of stardust expands,
Healing your thighs,
Melting your calves.
Your legs are deeply relaxed.
She puts the swirling mass on your feet and they let go.
You can almost feel the space between your toes.
The gentle healing light filters through your whole body.
Every cell is permeated and every cell becomes weightless.
Your arms and fingers let go.
You are at ease and serene and you drift toward sleep.
You relax even deeper.
The angel watches over you as she visits the trees and enjoys the still night.
And you rest on peaceful,
Melting,
Nearing sleep.
