Welcome everyone.
I'm Kate Colby Nelson and this meditation was created for those times when we are feeling the appearance of opposition,
Separation,
Or disconnection.
So I'd like you to just settle in wherever you are and gently close your eyes.
Take a few deep breaths here connecting to the way the breath feels in the body.
Notice how the breath expands on the inhale and the body softens and surrenders on the exhale.
Take a few more of these deep balancing breaths expanding on the inhale and softening letting go on the exhale.
Bring to mind a challenge for you that involves opposites.
It could be a strong belief that you have that opposes another's.
It could be a habit that keeps you from expressing your intentions.
Or perhaps it could be opposites such as then and now through the lens of comparison.
As you bring this challenge of opposites to mind,
Hold it very lightly.
Continue to quiet your mind and imagine holding these opposites in each hand.
You can give your opposites a shape,
A weight,
Or a color that allows them to rest imaginatively in each hand.
And notice the opposites.
Notice how they feel differently in your right hand than your left hand.
Notice that their shape,
Their weight,
And their color might be different from one another.
And notice how you feel holding them as oppositional objects.
Just notice.
And what is coming up for you?
Observe what feelings and emotions arise when you take your awareness back and forth between these two opposites.
And now in your mental awareness,
Switch your opposing ideas to the other hand.
Holding these opposites in the opposite hand.
And just notice how it feels in your body to move an opposing idea to another side of your body.
Just notice.
Now move both opposites into the right hand.
Hold both of these oppositional ideas in the right hand.
And notice how it feels to hold them together in the right hand.
Then shift these ideas,
These oppositional ideas,
To the left hand.
And notice how it feels to hold these two oppositional ideas in the left hand.
Now return these opposing ideas to the palms of your hands.
One in the right hand and one in the left hand.
And extend your palms in front of you.
Holding these oppositional ideas.
And very slowly bring your palms together.
And bring the thumbs to the root of the heart in Anjali Mudra.
Imagine the two becoming one.
And notice the origin of both is the root of the heart.
And be gentle.
Just notice.
Don't try.
Just let it be as you focus on the root of the heart as the origin of your palms.
Pressing the palms together in Anjali Mudra until the two become one.
And when you are ready,
Gently release the mudra and open your eyes.
Take a moment to reflect and journal in a stream of consciousness on the statement,
The two are always one.
The two are always one.
Thank you for joining me on this meditation.
That the two are always one.
And we can hold opposites if the origin is from our heart.
Om and blessings.
Until next time,
Take good care.
