Hey there!
Thank you so much for joining me today for this meditation.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable place to sit or lay down.
Make any adjustments that you need so that you can be present for the next little while.
Start by letting go of some tension in your neck,
Your shoulders,
Your jaw,
Your forehead.
Allow your tongue to fall to the bottom of your mouth.
When you breathe in,
Allow the air to fill your lungs and your stomach.
And when you exhale,
Allow your hands,
Arms,
Feet,
Legs,
And head to become heavy.
On your next exhale,
Allow your eyes to fall closed.
On your next inhale,
Allow the air to fill your body and cleanse you.
And on your next exhale,
Let go of something.
You don't have to know what it is or how to let go of it.
Just know when you breathe out,
You're letting something go.
Now I know this may seem counterintuitive,
But I want to begin by imagining a storm.
I want you to see this storm coming your way in the distance.
Maybe you're standing in a field or beside the ocean.
Whatever it might look like for you,
Just know that it's heading your way.
Allow your mind to build this storm.
Notice the details.
Maybe there's lightning on the horizon.
Maybe the winds are picking up.
The rain is falling.
The ocean is beginning to swell.
Let's check in with our senses.
What do you see?
Are there other people running away or are you by yourself?
The trees blowing in the wind.
Is there smoke,
Rain?
And what can you hear?
Can you hear the winds howling?
The leaves rustling?
Other people?
Maybe thunder in the distance?
What can you feel on your skin?
Maybe the wind is cold and harsh.
Maybe the rain is falling on you.
On your next inhale,
Notice what can you smell?
Maybe the saltiness of the ocean or smoke far away.
Right in the middle of this storm,
Let's check in with our body and notice right now where we're holding any stress.
Maybe you'll notice that your fists have become clenched.
Maybe your shoulders and your neck are tense.
Your jaw,
Maybe your forehead is wrinkled.
What are you holding in your stomach?
Maybe fear,
Worry.
Notice what's in your heart.
Just like most storms,
There's an eye of the storm,
A moment of clarity and relief.
In your mind,
I want you to see that coming your way.
Just like before,
I want you to begin to build the eye of the storm around you.
Allow the details to come to life.
Maybe the sun comes out behind the clouds.
Maybe the air begins to warm.
Maybe it becomes silent and still.
Allow yourself to bask in this feeling of safety.
Check in again with your senses.
What do you see?
Maybe sunshine.
Trees have become still.
The waves have settled.
What can you hear?
Maybe far off there's people laughing and talking.
Maybe the birds have begun chirping.
Maybe you hear nothing at all.
What do you feel on your skin?
Maybe the sun is warming you.
The rain has stopped.
Maybe the air is becoming warm.
And on your next breath in,
Notice anything you smell.
Maybe the flowers have come out.
Maybe you smell the rain.
On your next breath in,
Allow the clean air and the sunshine to cleanse you.
And on your next breath out,
Allow that stagnant energy and fear,
Resentment,
Worry,
Chaos.
Allow with each exhale for that to escape.
Let's check in with our body again.
Are you still holding stress or do you feel relaxed?
Maybe you feel less tension in your neck,
Your arms.
Maybe your hands are relaxed in your forehead.
Maybe the knot in your stomach has subsided.
Maybe in your heart you feel fullness and clarity.
Let's take a moment to notice that in this time of safety we have two choices.
We can either sit here in fear,
Wondering,
Worrying about what's to come next.
Or we can begin to accept the sunshine on our face,
The stillness,
The tranquility,
The safety.
We can choose to either live in what's coming next or to live where we are right now in this moment.
On your next breath in,
Begin to feel gratitude and give thanks for the clean air,
The sunshine,
The stillness.
On your next breath out,
Let go of whatever you don't need.
And begin to feel at home here in this space,
In your mind.
Know that this place always exists.
It's always safe.
You more than anyone else deserves to be here in this moment.
You're always welcome to come home.
When you're ready,
Begin to wiggle your fingers,
Your toes.
Begin to come back to the present moment.
When you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
And as you go about your day today,
I want you to remember that a storm is always brewing or existing outside of us.
Maybe in your home,
Your children,
Your spouse,
Maybe in the workplace,
Coworker,
Boss,
Deadlines,
Maybe in your community,
In the world.
Just know that no matter what kind of storm is brewing outside of you,
You always have the ability to be the eye of the storm and have the safety within your own mind.
And no matter what's going on around you,
Just know that you're always welcome home.
