When the mind won't stop.
If you've come here because your mind simply won't stop.
I'm really glad you found your way.
I'm Karen.
There's nothing wrong with you.
The mind was never designed to be silent on command.
It thinks.
Remembers.
Plants.
It worries.
It tries to solve all the problems of tomorrow.
Before today is even finished.
So rather than asking the mind to become quiet,
Perhaps we can offer it something kinder.
Permission.
Permission to simply be as it is.
Can you allow yourself to take a slow,
Comfortable breath in?
And as you exhale,
Invite yourself to settle comfortably,
Wherever you are.
There's nowhere else that you need to be.
Nothing to achieve.
Nothing to fix.
Notice any of the thoughts moving through your mind.
Perhaps they arrive as words.
Or maybe as images.
Perhaps as unfinished conversations or endless to-do lists.
You don't need to follow them.
But neither do you need to push them away.
Imagine sitting beside a gently flowing river.
Each thought is like a leaf.
Carried by the current.
Some move quickly.
Some circle for a while.
And some seem determined to stay.
But the river continues to flow.
You remain safely on the bank.
Simply watching.
Now gently bring your attention back to your breath.
Not changing it.
Just noticing it.
The coolness of the inhale.
And the warmth of the exhale.
If your mind wanders,
That isn't failure.
That's simply what minds do.
Each time you've noticed that you've wandered.
You've already returned.
Every return strengthens your capacity for presence.
Without force.
Without judgment.
Perhaps now notice the places.
Where your body is supported.
Your feet.
Your legs.
You're back.
The weight of your body carries.
You don't have to hold yourself together in this moment.
The Earth has you.
The chair has you.
The bed has you.
Without asking anything from you.
The breath continues.
Thoughts may still be present.
And that's alright.
It's okay.
Peace doesn't always arrive when thoughts disappear.
Sometimes peace arrives when we stop fighting with our thoughts.
Can you take one more slow breath in?
And allow the exhale to soften the body,
Maybe just a little more.
And when you're ready.
In your own time.
Carry this knowing with you.
The mind may continue to speak.
But you no longer have to believe every word it says.
And each gentle return.
Is enough.
So much love.
