This meditation is a heart opening meditation.
Hi,
My name is Jessie and today I'm going to help you work on opening up your heart.
It is in fact Valentine's week so it seemed appropriate to me to work on doing something that helps open up the heart.
Now why would we close our hearts?
If you think about your life and how it's progressed,
Oftentimes we meet with hardship,
We meet with hurts,
People that we love cross us or hurt us in some way and we tend to build up a wall and we do it to protect ourselves not knowing that it's going to turn off love and harm us in the long run.
So a meditation on opening up the heart can really help us to get centered to help move things along.
So to begin we are going to find a comfortable seated position.
As always we can just sit with our hands on our knees seated in a chair.
If it feels better to sit on the floor on a cushion that can work for you.
And we are just going to close our eyes,
Connect with our breath for a moment,
Inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the nose,
Breathing comfortably and breathing naturally.
Whenever the mind wanders just gently but firmly call the awareness back to the breath over and over again.
Very good.
Just stay with it.
Stay with your breathing.
Keeping the awareness on the breath,
Being gentle with yourself,
Practicing love for yourself even.
A lot of people don't do this and it is the most important thing because if you don't love yourself how can you possibly love somebody else?
And we are just going to take a moment and think about our heart space.
Maybe even place your hand over your heart.
Feeling the warmth there.
And maybe even imagining the color green.
This is what color your heart chakra is.
Just imagine a bright green light,
Maybe an orb.
Imagine whatever speaks to you.
And picture it just getting brighter and brighter.
Any darknesses cast out.
If there is a blockage just try to picture what it looks like.
Imagine the color,
The texture,
The shape.
Imagine it being removed and imagine it being filled up with a white healing light.
Just holding this visualization in your mind's eye.
And perhaps repeating Metta.
This is a mantra that can really lead to deep healing.
May I be happy,
May I be healthy,
And may I always have positive experiences.
And just repeating this to yourself.
May I be happy,
May I be healthy,
And may I always have positive experiences.
Repeating this over and over.
Observing how it makes you feel.
You are allowed to have happiness.
You deserve happiness.
This is our natural state to be happy and joyous.
We forget that though,
We lose it as time goes on.
May I be happy,
May I be healthy,
And may I always have positive experiences.
And shifting gears a little bit,
May you be happy,
May you be healthy,
And may you always have positive experiences.
May you be happy,
May you be healthy,
And may you always have positive experiences.
Very good.
Now just stay with the breath and observe how you're feeling.
If you have experienced trauma in your life,
Perhaps a good technique would be to imagine your heart with a door.
And the door is shut and locked.
You can visualize opening that door up with a key,
Unlocking the door,
And just cracking it open.
And then slowly but surely open that door and allow light,
Green healing light to flow in or white healing light,
Whatever color resonates with you.
Just flowing into your heart,
Filling it up,
Making it full,
Feeling the warmth there.
And coming back to the breath,
Breathing comfortably,
Breathing naturally for a moment.
Observing the breath as you inhale,
Filling your stomach,
Diaphragm,
And chest,
And then exhaling.
And whenever you're ready,
You can just slowly open your eyes.
Well done.
You did some hard work today.
So give yourself some credit.
