Hello,
Thank you so much for joining me for this meditation today.
So as usual,
Let's start to get comfortable.
Find a place where we can settle our physical body in where we won't get disturbed.
And we can just relax here together for a few moments.
And now as you find that comfy spot,
Let's allow the eyes to close.
And we'll begin to just bring our awareness to our breath.
Let's take a few inhales and exhales together just to get our breath aligned today.
So here we go.
Nice big deep breath in and then exhale.
Good.
We're going to do two more.
Big deep breath in,
Let it go.
Once more,
Big breath in and just let it go.
Good.
So really noticing the breath,
Noticing when you breathe in how the chest,
The ribs,
The belly,
Really the whole torso expands.
It opens up and allows in a rush of brand new oxygen.
Your whole torso expands,
It kind of gets out of the way,
Welcoming in this new breath.
And noticing how when you exhale,
Your body contracts a little bit,
Releasing that carbon dioxide,
That byproduct of the breath,
Releasing what is no longer serving it.
Yeah,
Every day we do this,
We breathe in,
We breathe out.
And most of us don't even have to think about it.
Our body just does it on its own,
Pretty unattended here.
Our body is wise enough to open up,
To bring in oxygen when needed,
And to release that byproduct,
That carbon dioxide.
Our body just inhales and exhales all on its own for the most part.
So let's see if we can use this wisdom of the body almost as a metaphor to help us release what we don't need and welcome in something new.
So let's start by taking a deeper look at the exhale.
So again,
With that exhale,
We notice our chest,
Our ribs,
And our belly contracts,
And the breath just flows out.
And we do this again without even thinking about it.
The body doesn't try to hang on to that breath.
It doesn't try to attach to that particular breath.
It doesn't try to chase after it.
On the exhale,
The body simply comes in,
Almost as if it is giving that breath one last hug,
And it lets it just flow out.
The body knows that the exhale is important.
The body knows that letting go of what is no longer serving it is going to help us welcome in what we need.
So it doesn't try to hang on to it.
It doesn't say,
No,
No,
No,
This is mine.
I need to hold on to this.
I need to keep this.
The body says,
Okay,
Thank you,
Breath,
For coming in,
For creating energy in the body.
I'm going to give you this hug,
And I'm going to let you go.
And then of course,
Right after an exhale comes an inhale.
So the body lets go of what it doesn't need.
It makes some space.
And then it starts to open up.
It starts to open up,
Expand,
Get out of the way.
As it welcomes in a new breath,
An inhale,
The body is wise enough to welcome in something new,
Something fresh,
Knowing that this is bringing in something good,
Trusting that this is bringing in what it needs.
It doesn't try to block it.
It doesn't say,
No,
No,
No,
This is not for me.
I don't need a breath.
Nope,
Nope,
Nope.
Our body is wise.
It welcomes in a new breath,
A new rush of oxygen.
It moves out of the way.
It lets this come in.
This oxygen moves through our body,
Goes into our cells,
Creates energy,
And then leaves.
So maybe we can use this metaphor,
This wisdom of the body throughout our day to think about a situation or something that arises during the day.
Can we get out of the way and welcome in something new?
Can we intentionally let ourselves open up and welcome in a new energy?
And then can we use the wisdom of the body to also help us release?
Can we use the wisdom of the exhale?
Is there something,
Again,
A situation,
Or maybe it's going to be something through your day today,
That you can intentionally give one last mental hug to and just let it go,
Not attaching to it,
Not trying to hang on to it.
And if you can't think of anything right now,
That's okay.
Maybe again,
Just make this intention through the day to follow the wisdom of the body,
To open up,
Allow in something new,
And to release what is no longer serving you.
Our body is wise.
Let's give ourselves time and grace today to allow our mind to kind of catch up to that.
So when you're ready,
Just fluttering those eyes open,
Maybe taking a stretch or two,
And allowing yourself to just release back into your day.
