We often read in Matthew 6 verses 9 through 13,
The Lord's Prayer,
But how often do we read it or recite it and really think about the words we're saying and how they can help us come closer to our Maker.
So in this guided meditation today,
I invite you to open your heart and open your mind to the thoughts that come to you as we say the Lord's Prayer.
If you haven't already,
Let your eyes close and take a few deep breaths,
Bringing yourself to this present moment.
Our Father,
Which art in heaven?
Imagine for a moment,
A perfectly loving,
All-powerful Father that is in heaven.
Away from this world with added perspective and insight into our lives.
Hallowed be thy name.
Hallowed means to revere and honor,
To make holy.
How do I make holy his name in my daily life?
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.
I know your ways are higher than my ways.
Help give me insight into thy will and the things that are happening in my life that I might not understand right now.
Help me to see.
Give us this day our daily bread.
What am I grateful for today that I might usually take for granted?
Those simple daily bread types of things.
I invite you to think of one thing that you can give gratitude for today.
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
Is there someone I haven't forgiven?
Someone that right now I can ask God to soften my heart towards?
That I can forgive in the way that I want to be forgiven?
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
Surround me with thy light and love,
Lord.
That I can withstand those temptations that come.
Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Just imagine that power and that glory surrounding you.
Now let's recite the whole prayer without the explanations.
If you'd like to read along again,
This is Matthew 6,
9-13.
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.
Just invite you to put one or two hands on your heart as you say that beautiful ending.
Amen.
Notice what you're feeling in your heart.
Glory to God.
Thank you for joining me for the Lord's Prayer today.
Sending you so much love.
Namaste.
Amen.
