Hello,
This is Jennifer regular of Lighting the Path.
I felt inspired to share this talk on what to do or how to be when you can't sleep,
Then dream.
It's different in that this isn't actually trying to help you get back to sleep or to have a better,
Longer,
Stronger sleep.
There is actually to become more awakened,
To dream,
To create,
Meditate,
Problem solve,
Or use this time that you've been wishing that you had to do what you've been feeling drawn to.
It just might be that these very things is what's gonna help you settle down and get better sleep in the long run.
So being shaken out of sleep,
Out of unconsciousness,
You're given an opportunity to become more awake and aware.
In fact,
It's been known that at 3 a.
M.
Or even more fully between 2 a.
M.
And 6 a.
M.
That this is the time for the creatives,
The dreamers,
And the visionaries.
So instead of resisting being awake or struggling to get back to sleep or constantly looking at the clock,
Drop into the effortless flow and tune in to what your restless soul needs and is calling out for.
In fact,
You don't have to do anything at all.
Give yourself a chance to breathe,
To just be.
There's one simple breathing exercise I'd like to try with you right now.
And so as you breathe in,
Gather all parts of your being,
Call back all aspects of you,
And as you exhale,
Let go of anything that is not you.
And again,
Breathing in,
Gathering all parts of your being,
And breathing out,
Letting go of anything that is not aligned and that's not you.
Tune into the subtle energies.
Be aware and tune more into the vibrational frequencies that are available to you only at this time of night,
Where we can better absorb our intuition and our messages.
And if you do feel like you wanna do something and trying to get back to sleep isn't working,
Then you can write,
Introspect.
Give yourself a chance to finally think without all the noise and disturbances and distractions.
It's also a great time to be able to reset your intentions,
To dream.
You can also use grounding or centering practices such as breath work,
Lucid dreaming,
Or yoga nidra,
Just to name a few examples.
But it is important before you go to bed to set some intentions,
To wind down and to turn in.
Isn't that interesting that we often call or sometimes call going to bed,
Turning in?
And that's exactly what we're meant to be doing is turning inward,
Turning back into ourself,
Tuning out the world.
So turn off the phones,
Turn off the devices,
Turn off the news,
And just turn in.
It's a time that you can set an intention to just quiet your soul and then to keep your mind calm and clear and to just rest.
There is a poem from Rumi actually that comes to mind.
So it's thinking about all of this and it's Don't Go Back to Sleep.
Don't go back to sleep,
The birds are calling you back.
Don't go back to sleep.
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don't go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don't go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth the doors still where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don't go back to sleep.
Rest well,
My friends,
And blessings on your journey.
