Hello and welcome to a healing meditation with prana mudra.
Our meditation for today is a healing practice enhanced with the use of a mudra.
Mudras are gestures or seals made with the hands,
Feet or the entire body.
They help to direct the flow of energy within the body.
The mudra we will be using for practice today is prana mudra.
Prana means life force energy.
Prana mudra is known as the life force or vital energy gesture and it brings vitality,
Healing and life force energy into the physical and subtle bodies.
Using this mudra on a consistent basis over an extended period of time can assist you in your own self-healing.
Let's prepare for our meditation.
Go ahead and come into a comfortable seated position.
One that will allow you to sit up with a nice tall spine.
Perhaps seated on a mat with your hips raised on a block or pillow or perhaps on a chair with both feet level on the floor.
Feel your pelvis heavy and grounded on the surface and lengthen the crown of your head away from the pelvis.
Relax your shoulders and rest your hands in your lap.
Take a deep big breath in through your nose and gently exhale through your mouth.
Repeat this twice more.
Now close your eyes to your level of comfort.
All the way closed or simply soften your gaze.
Begin to focus on your breath.
This time breathing in and out through the nose.
Allow your breath to flow freely,
Not forcing or rushing.
Just moving evenly and effortlessly in and out through your nose.
If your mind begins to wander just come back to your breath.
Continue to breathe deeply in and out through your nose.
Now draw your attention to your hands.
On each hand bring your little finger,
Ring finger and thumb tips together and gently extend your index and middle fingers to create prana mudra.
Place the mudra with your palms facing up on your thighs.
If your fingers or hands begin to feel tired during this practice you may release it and recreate it at any time or leave your palms facing up on your lap.
Continue focusing on your breath and begin to deepen your inhalations and lengthen your exhalations a little bit more.
Slowing your breath all the way down and remember if your thoughts wander come back to the breath.
What do you notice?
Do you sense any shifts or sensations in your body as you hold prana mudra?
Perhaps a tingling or pulsation at your fingertips or moving through the body.
It's okay if you do not feel any differences at this time.
Just continue to hold the mudra and breathe deeply.
Now direct your attention to the part of the body you wish to bring healing energy to.
What sensations do you currently feel there?
Does it feel tight,
Heavy,
Achy?
Is there gripping?
Just notice without any criticism,
Judgment or shame.
You're simply noticing what's there,
What you're feeling right now in that part of your body.
Now imagine a bright white light at the tips of your index and middle fingers.
If it is at all possible while holding prana mudra place one or both hands on the area you wish to heal or hold the image of the area in your mind's eye.
Focus all of your attention to that area.
Feel the energy flow in.
See the light flowing from your fingertips directly to the area illuminating it with healing vital energy.
Remember if your hands fingers or arms begin to feel tired you can always release the mudra and hold the visual in your mind's eye.
Now that you have placed prana mudra on that part of the body what sensations are you experiencing?
Is there a pulsation or vibration?
Is it warm or cold?
Does it feel numb?
Take a moment to really notice what you feel.
Again remembering there's no judgment or criticism or shame.
Simply gathering information.
What emotions are coming up for you?
Is it a sense of relief?
Anger?
Frustration?
Happiness?
Or perhaps you're not feeling anything at all.
Continue to notice any and all sensations or emotions that arise.
As you continue to breathe deeply while holding prana mudra allow that healing light energy to flow through the body directly to that part that you're drawing that attention to.
After your next exhalation release the mudra if you're not if you have not already done so and just wiggle the fingers and open and close the hands and then rest them gently on your lap and come back to your regular breathing pattern.
Taking a deep breath in and exhaling it out.
Just taking a moment here to allow yourself an opportunity to feel into your body noticing and acknowledging any shifts or changes any sensations and giving yourself an opportunity to be back in this space and when you're ready you can blink open your eyes and I really love working with prana mudra.
Sometimes I enjoy using it as I fall asleep.
You can come into a shavasana shape on your bed and just hold the mudra as you drift off to sleep.
I hope you enjoyed that meditation and you're feeling wonderful in your body and calm and settled in the mind and I'll see you again here really soon for another meditation.
