Find a comfortable lying or seated position.
This visualization creates calm in the body and initiates communication with the chakras using the colors associated with each chakra.
We will begin with a grounding meditation.
Tune into gravity and notice the weightiness of the body.
We oppose gravity just by keeping our head up on our neck,
By standing,
By keeping our mouths closed.
So notice some relaxation in the jaw area,
Allowing the jaw to go slack.
Notice how heavy the head feels.
If you're lying,
Just roll it gently back and forth,
Even tipping it gently forward and back.
And if you're sitting,
You can allow it to tip forward a little bit and just feel how heavy the head is as you bring it back up onto the neck.
Allowing yourself to melt into the seat or to the floor or to the bed,
Wherever you're lying or sitting.
Just feeling the weight,
The pull of gravity on the body,
As though your whole body is a sandbag.
Just letting go,
Noticing anywhere you're holding on.
And now on the exhale,
Allowing there to be a gentle release down the front of the body.
Any tension you're ready to let go of.
Just flows down the front of the body,
Down into the roots that grow out the bottom of your feet.
The roots receive this tension and turn it into compost.
It's dissipated,
It's absorbed.
It's drawn from the body as you're ready to release it.
And on the inhale,
You feel a sense of revitalization from the roots of nourishment,
As though the roots know exactly what your body and spirit need right now.
As you inhale,
Up the spine,
And exhale down the front of the body,
Releasing,
So that it's a cycle of release and reception.
On each exhale,
You just notice a place in the body,
Maybe starting with the face,
Noticing the muscles in the face and just relaxing them.
On the inhale,
Receiving.
Every cell receives this healing force from the roots,
As though they are thirsty for this beautiful nourishment,
This most excellent nourishment.
A way we begin to really resonate with and receive love and know what love is,
Is in the body.
And we can begin,
If people haven't been as safe,
To receive this loving nourishment from the roots,
From the ground.
These beautiful roots that draw from us any tension or traumatic memory that we're ready to let go of without any forcing.
We just are ready to let go.
The roots receive this.
And it is dissipated.
It is transmuted into the earth,
Composted.
And then,
These roots know exactly what we need to heal.
Coming up the back of the body,
We receive this gentle healing from the earth.
Now,
Bring your attention to the root,
To the base of the body,
To the tailbone,
This root chakra that is associated with the lymph system,
The teeth,
The bones,
The elimination system.
It's the base of the spine.
It functions as our connection with the earth.
It's associated with our sense of security,
Survival,
Self-esteem.
All that is material.
This is where our physical and emotional stability and balance coexist.
Just noticing this base of the spine and the color red as it glows red,
Neither spinning too quickly nor too slowly.
As you inhale to the base of the spine,
Inhaling deeply,
Noticing this beautiful red glowing.
And then,
As though you could inhale red,
As though you could taste red and see red,
Allowing yourself to receive this beautiful color.
However,
You might perceive it as strawberries,
As rubies,
Just allowing yourself to receive this beautiful color,
Allowing it to fill your body now.
Every cell in your body,
Allowing yourselves to engage with red until it moves up and around you three-dimensionally as a protective orb.
As you inhale,
It brightens.
And as you exhale,
It dims a bit as you engage with this color red.
And now noticing the color orange.
It's located in the curve of the sacrum.
It relates to all types of creation,
Creativity,
Sexuality,
Sensuality,
Procreation,
Passion,
Emotion,
Creativity.
It interacts with the spleen and sexual organs,
Just allowing yourself to receive orange,
To taste it,
To smell it,
To see it,
Even hear it,
However you perceive orange in a sunset,
In the fruit.
Now allowing your body to receive orange,
Every cell of your body.
And the orange moves up and joins red in this protective orb around you three-dimensionally,
Encircling you,
Embracing you about three-dimensional,
About an arm's length distance from the body three-dimensionally.
As you now begin to receive yellow,
Located in the upper stomach area behind the navel,
Interacting with the stomach and the adrenals.
This area of the body,
The solar plexus chakra,
Is associated with our sense of personal power and ego.
It's where energy comes from when we compete,
Protect,
Control,
Transform,
And make choices,
Allowing yourself to taste and hear and smell yellow and see it and hear it.
However,
You might perceive yellow as daffodils or the sunshine,
Fresh corn,
Every cell receiving this beautiful yellow,
Engaging with it,
Playing with it.
As now the yellow moves up and joins the orange and red,
Encircling you,
Protecting you in this three-dimensional orb of light,
As now you tune into green,
Located in the heart center,
Interacting with lungs and heart,
Concerned with love and all its manifestations,
Also with compassion and joy,
It helps us to open to others,
Again,
Understanding that if we have not received love early in our lives,
There may not be the neural networks for love.
And so we practice via the chakras,
Via the body,
Opening to what love might represent,
Opening to this sense of being held,
Protected,
Connected to the earth,
Nourished,
Resourced,
Inhaling green,
Smelling,
Tasting,
Hearing,
Seeing the green as verdant,
Fertile hills,
The leaves shimmering as many of our vegetables.
However you want to see green,
However you feel it,
Allowing your cells to receive it,
As green now moves up with yellow,
Orange,
And red to encircle you,
Creating a rainbow of protection.
As now you tune into blue,
Blue,
The blue chakra,
The throat chakra,
Interacts with the immune system and hormones.
It helps you to communicate,
To advocate,
Helps you to,
Allows you to receive the nurturance and allows you to express your deepest truth associated with creative energy,
Self-expression,
Inhaling blue,
Allowing it to fill your body and your cells,
Tasting it,
Hearing it,
Smelling it,
Seeing blue,
The blue sky,
The ocean,
Blueberries,
Allowing your cells to receive and play with blue,
Allowing yourself to open to play,
To a reclamation of everything that was lost.
As this blue moves up and joins the other colors around you,
The green,
The yellow,
The orange,
The red,
As a three-dimensional protective orb,
Arm's length distance.
Or if you need it closer,
Bring it closer.
If you need it farther,
Allow it to respond to what your body needs.
Tuning in now to indigo,
The brow chakra.
Some people call it the third eye.
This interacts with the pituitary gland,
The eyes,
The mental and spiritual processes.
It's located just above and between your eyebrows.
It's a place of intuition,
Deep wisdom,
And spirituality,
Just allowing yourself to smell and see and hear and taste this shade of purple,
This indigo,
Allowing the cells to receive this color,
Feel calmed and nurtured by this color.
As it moves up now with the other colors to encircle you,
To surround you,
To embrace you in a protective orb of rainbow light.
As you tune in now to violet,
The crown chakra,
It's located just above the top of your head.
It engages with the spine,
The nervous system,
The pineal gland.
It's our connection to the divine,
Associated with enlightenment and a sense of oneness and unity,
Feeling this violet color,
This lighter shade of purple,
Smelling,
Seeing,
Hearing,
Feeling,
Tasting it as our cells receive it.
And then it moves up,
Joining the other colors to surround us in this rainbow.
As we inhale,
The colors brighten.
And as we exhale,
They calm.
All of the chakras coming into balance,
All important.
The lower chakra is helping us to do the soul work,
To dig down deep within ourselves,
To grow like a sunflower,
Like a tree.
And the upper chakra is helping us to reach high up into the heavens for wisdom,
To connect with the divine so that we are at once reaching up and reaching down.
We are at once breathing in the nourishment,
Exhaling the tension,
The cycles in the body,
The healing cycles,
Taking as much time as you need now to sit with this beautiful orb of light that is protecting you,
Noticing each chakra balanced,
Not overwhelmed,
Not spinning too quickly,
Not sluggish or spinning too slowly,
But just balanced,
Circling at just the right speed for your body.
