Hello beautiful souls,

This is June Bee and welcome to an amazing night's sleep.

Thanks for being here for another in the series of bedtime tales with June Bee.

Today we will snuggle on our rug in front of a beautiful fire.

Let's begin!

So get into your favourite sleeping position,

Make sure you're comfortable,

Close your eyes,

Relax your muscles and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.

Now let's go to your breathing,

Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Last time,

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Settle in now,

Get comfortable.

Let go of everything that happened today and let's relax together.

Let yourself focus on my voice.

If your mind wanders,

It's okay.

Bring it back to the sound of my voice.

Keep your breathing slow and steady and let's go on our journey together.

Today we are going to lie down in front of a fire and snuggle on a soft and beautiful rug.

So in the autumn it is evening and I've just finished doing all of my chores.

I've had my dinner and it's time to relax for the evening.

I am so blessed to have a real fire and I just lit it a few moments ago.

It is starting to get to that stage where it is well established.

Room is filling up with the warmth of the flames and it is like an instant relaxing drug.

Can you hear the flames?

So I'm in my jammies or gym jams,

What we call pajamas in the UK and I'm ready to relax.

I have this soothing music playing in the background and as I settle,

I lie down on the soft rug right in front of the fire.

Oh,

What a beautiful place this is.

A place of warmth and comfort.

Thinking about a place of comfort,

It reminds me of the day when I was little.

I came home from school on the bus.

As I turned the key to the front door,

The smell that was wafting through the house of amazing Caribbean food hit my nose.

Now I have to confess,

I have always been a foodie and love many different foods from all around the world.

At a young age,

I was taught to cook by my father,

Who in a previous job was a cook on a cruise ship.

So he didn't have much finesse in the kitchen.

He was used to keeping things very simple and cooking for many hungry men.

Well,

This day I got home and the smells hit my nose.

Then I heard my father shout,

Is that you baby?

Come help me finish the pot.

Music to my ears.

I was so excited as I loved helping my father cook.

It was such a bonding experience and we had the kitchen in a complete mess.

Pots and pans,

Dishes and containers all over the place.

Oh,

What a delight.

I have done some helping with other people in the kitchen and it was always such a boring and very clean affair.

Never using too many dishes and keeping the place spotless,

Sterile almost.

As if we were going to operate rather than enjoy the delicacies of an amazing dish we were about to create.

If you ask me,

Nothing good tasting comes out of a super clean kitchen.

What do you think?

So my father and I used to dive right in and have so much fun.

He would have the cricket on or the races in the background and we would be having such an amazing time making some of my favourite foods to eat.

Joking back and forth and having so much tasting that by the time the food was finished,

I was full with the tasting alone.

So this occasion was no exception and we went at it for hours it seemed.

Wanted it to go on forever.

I felt so comforted and loved when we were in the kitchen cooking together.

It was the highlight of my week.

Not the washing up though,

Not so much.

I'm sure you have a few great memories of feeling loved and comforted.

That is one of my favourites and as I become a parent myself,

I made sure that my kids always had fun in the kitchen and exposed them to so many amazing foods and recipes from all around the world.

I remember using some cookbooks so often that the pages ended up sticking together.

I'm sure they will themselves go on to do the same thing with their respective families.

We all love food in my family and some of our most beautiful memories are in the kitchen or around the dinner table.

It's so nice to think about the times of comfort and being in front of this fire brings back some of the most beautiful memories.

Not sure about you?

I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.

So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.

Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away,

Have yourself a great night's sleep.

And looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with June B.

Good night.

Good night.
