Welcome to this meditation.
During our practice you will meet a part of yourself that you might have been disconnected from.
This meditation is one out of two that helps us to develop a healthy balance between our shadow and sun child.
And from there act out of a stable foundation of trust in life and ourselves.
Which in the end means to develop a healthy level of self-confidence as the adult that we are.
Right now let's focus on connecting and embracing our shadow child.
Find a comfortable position either sitting or lying down.
Close your eyes and draw your attention towards your body.
Isn't it surprising how easily your body knows what it means for you to feel comfortable?
It is an experience that you can always create whenever you want to get some distance from everyday life.
The more often you practice the easier you arrive right here and now in the present moment.
Allow yourself to draw your attention to your body.
How does it feel?
Can you find specific areas of tightness?
Your forehead?
Your shoulders?
Your back?
Your jaw?
Or maybe other parts?
With the next inhalation start to breathe in ease,
Balance and calmness.
And with the next exhalation let go of tension,
Unease and sorrow.
Breathe in ease,
Balance and calmness.
Breathe out and let go of tension,
Unease and sorrow.
With every breath you get more and more comfortable and let go of what you're holding on to.
Your shoulders drop further.
Your jaw unlocks behind your closed lips.
Just breathe and let go.
Feel where in your body you can release more and more tension.
With every inhalation you spread the tranquility within you.
With every exhalation you let go more and more.
You feel ease,
Balance and calmness.
The soft and silent space within your body becomes larger and larger.
You are right here,
Right now.
This moment is yours.
It is perfectly safe and peaceful.
Just like you.
As the silent space within your body opens up,
You can dive into it,
Into the core of your subconsciousness and your inner wisdom.
You can see a door appearing in front of your inner eye.
It leads you to a different world,
The other side of your consciousness.
What does the door look like?
What is it made from?
Glass?
Or maybe wood?
What is its color?
White?
Golden?
Or maybe a completely different color?
When you are ready,
Open the door and step through it.
You find yourself in the most beautiful landscape,
A place within nature where you feel totally at peace.
Take your time to look around.
Enjoy the colors and all the details you can see.
Can you smell anything?
Maybe you can feel the sun on your skin.
Perhaps you hear the sea or a little river running and the ground beyond your feet feels comforting,
A wonderful place to linger.
From further away you can see a child coming closer towards you.
It is your shadow child.
You know this as he reminds you of yourself as a child.
What does he look like?
What kind of haircut does he have?
What clothes does he wear?
Does he have a cuddly toy?
Go up to him.
Welcome your shadow child in your own personal way,
Just like you would welcome a child that you deeply love and want to protect.
It is time for you to take over responsibility for your shadow child.
And you feel how the adult part of you straightens and stands tall.
Now ask your shadow child whether he wants to share something with you.
Ask him whether there are things that he is afraid of.
Ask him about his negative beliefs towards himself.
Maybe he believes that he is not good enough.
Maybe he believes he is a failure.
Ask him for his very own negative beliefs.
Now ask the boy how he feels when he thinks that way.
Ask the child about his feelings towards himself.
Sit down with your shadow child.
Kindly listen to him.
Show him that your attention is completely given to your dialogue.
And then start to explain to the boy about how things were with his parents in childhood.
Maybe his parents were over-strained in some aspects.
Maybe it was only one parent that was difficult and strained.
Maybe his parents were fully over-strained or even really bad with a child.
Tell your shadow child that his parents also had parents who didn't make everything right.
Let him know that his parents also carried wounds and scars from their own childhoods that had never been healed.
Explain the boy that this pain was what caused all the negative behavior they showed towards him.
Tell the child that it was never his fault when mom and dad reacted badly.
Let him know that he is free of any guilt for the challenges of his parents.
Your parents' mistakes don't lie on your shoulders.
If they couldn't cope with life,
They should have sought help.
Imagine your mom and dad didn't make all these mistakes.
Imagine they had been whole and healed and they had done everything right.
Or maybe you preferred to imagine different parents for yourself.
Explain to your shadow child that if this had been the case,
He would know how grateful and glad his mom and dad would have been to have such an amazing little boy.
Tell him that he is totally welcomed by his healed parents.
That he is loved just the way he is.
Still,
There are certain rules to follow.
And sometimes they also yell at you.
But you know that they deeply love you and that they never would exchange you for any other child in the world.
You are welcome.
You are worthy.
You are wanted.
You are allowed to have your own will.
You are allowed to be you.
Your parents are so proud of you.
Explain to the boy that you are his adult self.
Tell him that you will take care of him from now on.
Let him know that he will never be alone again as you,
The good caring adult,
Will take care of him.
Assure your shadow child that you're going to explain to him the situation with his parents again and again.
Until deep down inside he understands that he's absolutely enough just the way he is.
That he's welcome.
And that he is allowed to be exactly as he is.
Now get ready to make your journey back to the present.
If you prefer,
You can leave your shadow child here in the safe place inside of you.
There are guardian spirits around that will care for him.
But you can also take him with you.
Farewell this beautiful landscape.
You can come back to this place whenever you want to.
It is always there.
Now go up to the door again leading you back to the outer world.
As you walk through it,
Your thoughts carry you back into the room that you are in right now.
Feel your body,
Your hands,
Your feet move and stretch a little.
And when you feel ready,
Open your eyes and completely arrive back in the present moment.
