The Short Breath Reset
Modern life keeps the nervous system "always on," often leading to chronic stress. This practice uses the physiological sigh to quickly shift your body from activation into rest. By using these short resets during your natural daily pauses, you can restore balance and reclaim your calm.

Hi there,
It's Jamie here and in this video we're talking about the power of short breath resets.
The breath is such a powerful tool to support the health and regulation of our nervous system but one of the biggest challenges we face at the moment when it comes to nervous system regulation is this sense of being always on.
The issue isn't too much stress often for the nervous system,
It's an absence of proper and adequate rest.
Our nervous system needs to have the capacity and flexibility to be on when it's required and off again when it's required to go from activation into rest again.
Nervous system dysregulation so often when it comes to chronic stress comes about as a result of us not having those intentional moments of pausing,
Resting and switching off in a world that is always on and moving faster than ever.
I love using short breath resets,
These moments of one to two breaths up to three to five minutes of short simple exercises to restore a level of balance,
Calm and capacity to your nervous system.
For me these short breath resets find their way into our lives at our natural pauses,
Those natural moments throughout the day where we're transitioning from one activity to another.
One of the best breaths you can use that we're going to move through in a moment is the physiological sigh.
We're going to take five of these together and this is the perfect breath to quickly reset and restore balance to your nervous system in the heat of a busy day.
This breath is very very simple,
We're going to take a deep breath in through the nose followed by a second smaller inhale at the top to expand and a soft sigh out through the mouth.
So we'll take four more,
Deep breath in and again and sigh out,
Three more inhale and again exhale,
Last two in and again exhale,
Last one and again and exhale.
So that is the perfect breath that you can begin to use throughout your day to find those moments of pause,
To come back to yourself,
Come back into your body,
To come back to your breath and start to restore that balance and balance the scales of effort and rest in your busy life.
