Today we will engage in a walking meditation that is not just about walking,
But about moving with intention.
Every step is going to become a manifestation of the energy you want to bring into your life,
Whether it's confidence,
Peace,
Clarity,
Or focus.
So as we move through this meditation,
You'll align your body and mind with your deeper intentions,
Connecting the act of walking to the path of life that you're creating.
So before you begin,
Please find a space where you can walk,
Whether it's inside or outside.
This meditation is all about being present with each step,
So there's no need for a destination.
Before you start walking,
If you need to find a place to walk,
Go ahead and pause now,
And then we'll get started.
Before you start walking,
Find a place where you can stand still for a moment.
Plant your feet firmly on the ground.
Feel the earth supporting you beneath your feet,
Whether you're on concrete,
Grass,
Carpet,
Or dirt.
Allow yourself to root into the ground,
Connecting to the present moment.
And if it's available for you,
I just invite you to close your eyes for a moment and take a soft breath in and a soft breath out.
A couple more like that.
And on every exhale,
Can you let go of any tension in your body?
So can you release any tightness in your shoulders?
Relax your jaw,
Soften your hands.
Take one more final deep,
Deep breath here,
Filling your lungs with some fresh energy.
And one final deep,
Deep exhale,
Just slowly grounding yourself even more.
And then let's take a moment to set an intention for this walking meditation.
So my question for you is,
What energy do you want to embody today?
It could be anything,
Calmness,
Confidence,
Joy,
Focus,
Or something else that's personal to you.
Whatever it is,
Hold that intention in your heart.
If your eyes were closed,
You can open them.
And let's start walking.
Start taking your first steps.
And as you walk,
Let these first steps at the beginning,
Let them be slow and deliberate.
So feel the entire process of walking.
First,
Notice the lifting of your foot,
The movement of your leg,
The gentle shift of your weight,
And then finally the planting of your foot back onto the ground.
So walk a little bit more slowly and walk with this full awareness of the body.
Feel the muscles in your legs engaging,
Your hips shifting,
And the gentle rhythm of your movement.
Notice how the earth supports you with each step,
Grounding you in the here and now.
And as you walk,
I want you to silently say to yourself,
Internally or externally,
I am moving forward with intention.
I am moving forward with intention.
I am moving forward with intention.
Repeat this phrase in your mind as you continue walking.
With each step,
Feel that intention becoming more and more embodied in you.
Now shift your focus to your breath.
Synchronize your breath with your steps.
You might inhale over the course of two or three steps,
And then maybe exhale for the next two or three steps.
Just start to find a rhythm that feels natural and soothing for you.
And as you walk and breathe,
Can you notice and sensation the breath?
And as you walk and breathe,
Can you notice the sensations in your body?
Can you feel your feet connecting to the earth,
The movement in your hips,
The steady rhythm of your breath?
Allow your mind to rest in this simple yet profound experience of moving with full presence.
And it's almost as though you're bringing this attitude of curiosity,
As if you've never walked before,
And you're so intrigued and in awe of how fully present you are as your body takes these steps.
And as you continue walking,
Can you begin to focus on the intention you set earlier?
What energy do you want to embody today?
And can you visualize that intention flowing through your body with each step?
If your intention was to embody confidence,
Imagine each step planting seeds of confidence in your mind,
In your body.
Maybe you're walking with a little bit of swag if it was confidence,
Maybe a sway of the hips.
If your intention was peace,
Can you feel peace growing with each step you take?
So maybe you start to feel a little bit less anxious,
A little bit more relaxed,
So maybe you start to feel a little bit lighter in the shoulders,
Maybe a soft smile on the face.
With each inhale,
Just imagine breathing in the energy of your intention.
Every step is a movement towards becoming the person you are choosing to be today.
So let's start to bring an affirmation in.
I want you to silently repeat your intention as you walk,
So you'll say,
With each step,
I am becoming more blank.
I'm becoming more confident,
Peaceful,
Joyful,
Focused,
Whatever your intention is.
And let this mantra guide you as you continue to walk mindfully.
Then just take a moment here to engage your senses.
What do you hear around you?
Is there the sound of birds,
Leaves,
City,
Neighborhood?
What do you hear?
And allow the sounds around you to be part of this meditation without needing to label them or judge them,
More so just using sound as a portal to presence.
So if your mind starts to get distracted,
You can just bring it back to a sound,
Be curious,
And then come back to your intention.
And look around you.
Can you notice the colors,
The shapes,
The light,
And the shadows?
Maybe you start appreciating the beauty in the details that you might otherwise overlook.
A walking meditation is not just about moving.
It's about being fully present in the space you're in.
As you start to near the end of your walk,
Slow your pace and return your focus back to your breath.
Take a deep inhale,
Breathing in gratitude for this practice,
And exhale slowly,
Releasing any remaining tension.
Take a moment to reflect on how you feel.
Notice any shifts in the body or mind.
How do you feel after walking with such presence and intention?
What energy are you carrying forward into the rest of your day?
And as we start to come to a close,
Just bring your walk to a gentle stop.
Stand still once again,
Feeling the earth beneath your feet and the energy of your intention in your body.
And give me one final deep breath here.
