Oliver introduces a powerful analogy for non-dual understanding — a television. Images and characters (objects) appear on a screen (awareness), which is unchanging and ever-present.. These two elements seem to coexist; they are separate but also "one". Oliver describes this powerful example of the TV in detail and how it can ignite a non-dual experience in your own life.

What Is The Ego?
In order to understand non-duality, we have to understand the main obstacle to non-dual awareness: the ego. In this lesson, Oliver establishes what the ego is, drawing upon various ancient spiritual traditions. This lesson aims to lay the foundations of "false self" so that you'll feel comfortable using the word "ego" for the rest of the course.

Why You're Not The Ego
In order to transcend the false egoic self, we need to understand that it is an object of awareness just like any other (a sound, a smell, a physical sensation). Oliver helps us to use a dualistic lens to stand back from the ego and establish that the ego is an object that we can observe with awareness. This is an important step to take. In future lessons, we will explore the non-dual state and how all of life is actually "I Am" — but first, the ego needs to be studied, seen, and detached from.

Why You *Are* Awareness
It has been established that you are not the ego — the smaller sense of "I" — because you can stand back from it and see it or hear it. Today, Oliver explains exactly why you *are* awareness. This is your fundamental, most baseline sense of "I", beyond all form or self-concept. From this point forward, we have established everything necessary to continue deepening non-dual practice and awareness. Prepare to feel reassured, motivated, and inspired.

Distance Is An Illusion
For non-dual awareness to be felt, we need to overcome the "idea" of distance. The logical thinking mind functions in duality, and therefore, it believes that certain "objects" are far away or distant. In this lesson, Oliver explains that in non-duality, the idea of distance is essentially a mental construct, or an illusion. He invites you to really get in touch with something he calls "raw experience".

Awareness Is Like Magic Paint
In this lesson, Oliver utilizes a profound analogy of "magic paint" to describe Non-Duality. All experience (sights, sounds, smells, thoughts, emotions, etc.) is "made" of this magic paint - awareness itself. You'll discover that in the Duality viewpoint, you and the external world are separate, yet in Non-Duality, all of life is made of the same substance.

Awareness Is The Lowest Common Denominator Of All Experience
Awareness is an integral part of all life — the lowest common denominator of all experience. Why is this important? In day-to-day life, most humans function in duality, in separation. Which means we unconsciously rank and rate our experiences. Returning to the non-dual state — where awareness is the lowest common denominator of all experience (thoughts, sounds, people, sights, smells, etc.) — means that this sense of separation and labels dissolve.

Inside Vs Outside
Oliver explains a crucial concept in non-duality: the difference between "inside" experiences and "outside" experiences. In normal day-to-day consciousness, we think in duality, which means that there appears to be an inside (our body) and an outside (external world). Oliver describes how, in non-dual awakening, there is no inside vs outside, and that all experience happens in awareness rather than "in" or "out" of somewhere.

Practice — Inside Vs Outside
Based on all of the non-dual understanding you have integrated so far, this guided practice aims to playfully investigate the difference between inside (the body) and outside (external experiences). By removing the "barrier" that seems to exist around the edge of our body, the external world seems to blur and mix with bodily sensations, offering you a non-dual experience.

In this lesson, Oliver demonstrates what non-duality is on a fundamental level by using a powerful analogy of pumpkin seeds in their different versions (fibre, oil, and whole food). What Does Non-Duality Feel Like? — This May Surprise You
Oliver answers one of the most commonly asked questions regarding the non-dual state: what does it feel like? This description can help you to know when you are entering a non-dual state or not. Duality consciousness (normal day-to-day separation) gives us the feeling of being a three-dimensional body moving through time and space. However, with a non-dual state, given that awareness is one field of consciousness, there is no separation (non-dual). Oliver articulates how the experience can feel like you are a sheet of paper, a single sheet of infinite awareness.

This guided practice allows you to investigate the appearance of your current location in which you are, compared with a mental image of the same room. You will investigate how the "real" room appears more vibrant, more dense, whilst the mental image is thinner or less "real". However, Oliver encourages you to notice how both experiences are equally "valid" in terms of awareness. Awareness meets both the mental image and the real room in the same way — intimately and unified.

Where Is Awareness Located?
This lesson invites you to investigate the difference between conceptual, logical "knowledge" and direct experience itself. In normal day-to-day consciousness — from a dualistic perspective — awareness is assumed to be located inside the body. Oliver discusses how modern science gives us the knowledge that the body is equipped with an amazing nervous system and spinal cord, which seems to be the location of awareness. In today's lesson, you'll discover how non-dual awareness requires us to investigate our direct experience of life, dropping any logical knowledge of our body, without the logical mind.

In today's lesson, we explore how base-level reality (the territory) is different from the mind's interpretation (the map). Using a non-dual focus, this lesson helps you to understand why it's important to put aside the mental, logical interpretation of your experiences, and to see your experiences as purely raw data or Truth.

This practice aims to stretch the mind's grip on life around you, allowing you to access deeper states of non-dual awareness.
