Sometimes I just feel,
Why can't we be enough no matter how hard we try to?
Why can't we be enough no matter how hard we try to?
Okay,
This is because.
.
.
Let's draw a line down the middle of you.
Imagine there's a line down the middle of me.
50% of my being is a physical,
Material being.
It's kind of like an animal.
You can call it a primitive animal.
It's the egoic sense of self.
It's your name.
It's your occupation.
It's your story.
It's also your traumas.
Another part of your being is completeness.
Another part of your being is awareness itself.
Try and be open-minded here if this is new to you.
I will explain it.
One part of your being is inherently incomplete.
The egoic sense of self.
It's never enough.
It's never enough.
Another part of your being is completeness.
It's perfection.
This is the awareness,
Non-physical,
Illuminating presence.
And these two.
.
.
These two parts of you coexist.
You're not just the ego,
But you're also not just the soul and spirit.
You're the ego and the soul combined.
And what happens here is this feeling of it never feels enough.
This is you noticing that part of you almost has a memory.
It almost has a feeling of the vast completeness that is possible.
It's like we all know that deep down there's a feeling of completeness out there somewhere.
We can almost feel it and remember it,
But we never have it.
And the ego is never enough anyway.
So what happens is we move through life and there's this feeling of like.
.
.
It's like a low-lying agony because one element of our being already is perfection,
Already is complete.
It's non-physical.
It's a non-physical aspect to your being.
And just to break it down,
If you're wondering what that aspect of you is,
The non-physical aspect,
This very moment while you're listening,
You can call it the present moment.
It is illuminated by something,
Isn't it?
The present moment is being experienced right now.
As I speak,
There is some kind of space in which the present moment exists,
Isn't there?
And if I want to further ask you,
I could say,
How do you know that you're aware right now?
Don't answer it logically.
Answer it experientially.
How do you know that you're aware?
And the answer is almost felt because I am aware.
Because there is this presence at any given moment that cannot be defined or seen or found.
Like I can't find,
You can't find awareness.
Like,
Let me give you an example.
This cup here,
This cup can be found.
It's here in front of me and it can be found.
So it's a thing.
This ring on my finger,
It's clearly an object,
Isn't it?
And it can be found.
On the other hand,
The awareness which you are at your most fundamental core level,
It cannot be found ever.
It's like looking for something that is right behind you.
Imagine you've got a sticker on your back.
This is a good analogy.
Imagine you've got a sticker on your back.
And on this sticker,
I write awareness and I stick it on your back.
And I say to you,
Go and find awareness.
And everybody's just walking around going,
I can't find my awareness.
Where's my awareness?
I can't find it.
Where is it?
That's a perfect analogy.
It's because it's there,
But it's behind everything.
So at your fundamental most raw level,
You are perfection,
You are enough.
And that never changes from birth to death.
Everything else,
Which is the egoic form,
Your story,
Your occupation,
The physical flesh and body,
That is by definition incomplete and imperfect.
And it always will be and it will always change and the body will age.
So through life,
We have this choice of what do we wish to identify with?
Do we wish to identify with the form and the ego,
The egoic self,
Your name and your occupation and your story and your relationships?
Or do you wish to try and lean back into this spacious,
Non-physical aspect of your being,
Which is there all the time,
But it's right behind you and you can never quite grasp it.
But it is the source of everything.
So the answer is that you can never have one or the other.
You have to live in this kind of flowy dance between the two.
But it's much better for people to lean back into awareness state because 99.
9% of humanity lives in the egoic form state,
Trying to construct themselves all the time.
This is me and this is my family and this is my life and this is my identity.
This is my name and I've done so many good things.
And can everybody see how good I am?
And it's just this endless insufficiency hamster wheel.
Can you see?
So for you to be on Insight Timer,
Doing the work,
Listening to the appropriate teachers and live events,
Hopefully over time it will get you in touch with that non-physical aspect of your being and you'll feel more wholesome and complete.
You'll never feel 100% complete because this life is friction.
But it certainly gets you in touch with something that is more closer to that complete aspect to your being.
