Leave No Meditation Object Behind: Practice Morsels
In this practical teaching, I use the military saying “Leave no man behind” and apply it directly to meditation practice. Just as soldiers commit to never abandoning their comrades, we can make the same solemn commitment to our meditation object — whether it’s the breath, a sensation, a mantra, or any anchor. Even when the mind wanders, when it feels difficult, or when strong emotions arise, we gently but firmly return and stay with the object. This requires vigilance, dedication, and a wholehearted pledge: “I will not leave my meditation object behind.” This talk encourages a stronger, more consistent mindfulness and a deeper sense of loyalty to the present moment. Perfect for anyone wanting to strengthen their concentration and build unshakable steadiness in their practice. Ideal for samatha, mindfulness of breathing, or any meditation object.
