Hello.

I'm so glad you're here.

Sometimes it can feel like our mental landscape is a tangle and jumble of so many difficult thoughts coming from every direction and like polluting our mind like weather and clouds and it's so thick and soupy we really can't see the sky and we can't feel an escape from our mind and if that's you know that I've been there know that I know this landscape very very well and I offer this meditation and this guidance to support you out of the thick foggy soup a mind that feels like a box closed in on itself and I once heard an analogy that I'll share with you here and this person said a mind is like a ship and when we feel this sense of in escape from our mind it's like there's a whole bunch of unruly and drunken sailors that have taken up residence all over the ship and they're having a giant party a drunken party and because of that the sailboat is totally lost at sea it has no direction in this analogy these unruly sailors are like our unruly and uncontrollable thoughts that have taken over residence in our mind and the job of meditation or this spiritual path is really to resurrect the captain from down and she's been asleep he or she has been asleep underneath and we're gonna bring her and him back up to take to take control of this ship to grab that steering wheel and ride it and tame those unruly sailors and if this is you I promise you that this is the most beautiful and exquisite path that you can take and it is absolutely possible it is way easier and more close than you may think and this meditative guidance right now that I'm going to lead you in is one way a very beautiful clear and simple way to begin know that this is a practice so know that the sailors they may keep coming back and it's okay we practice coming back to choosing beautiful thoughts as you'll see through this meditation that is the essential human journey in a sense to keep coming back and reclaiming our rightful place as the captain so let's begin and inviting you now to just close your eyes wherever you are you don't need to be in any simple any special position or just be in a place where you can focus on this meditation and close your eyes and I want you to imagine that before you is a white empty room and I want you to take off your shoes and just walk into this room and close the door and then I want you to begin to empty everything that you know about yourself let go of the past and all your memories let go of the future and what might happen in a few hours or days or years let go of your name let go of everything that you could possibly let go of let go of even knowing that there's a body sitting here so that the only thing that is here is the pure awareness or knowing knowing of the sound of my voice and knowing of maybe sensations arising just knowing in every moment and as soon as you know something just allow it to float away like writing on water don't pick up anything with your mind but also don't exclude anything from your mind if a thought comes that's fine just let it pass through just don't be attached to any part of your experience right now there is nothing that you need to know about what is happening and when you've totally and completely and utterly let go of everything you can let go of then just rest this is your natural state this is your true home this is the fertile ground from which the captain awakes from his or her slumber you are not your thoughts you are not your feelings you are not your sensations you are the pure essence the canvas the water in which everything moves and the great miracle is that you get to choose what you plant in your garden your mind does not need to be a junkyard of all the old discarded beliefs that no longer serve you you have the power to allow them to just simply integrate and melt back into the sea back into the soil from whence they came and so just for a few more seconds here just feel the blank canvas the clear sky the open mind that is your natural state in this beautiful empty room in which you sit right now and I want you to very consciously very carefully decide what you will plant in your new blank open garden so imagine that you have some soil in front of you and you have a little seed that you're cradling in your hand place that seed so carefully in the soil in this room maybe you grab a beautiful can of water give it a little bit of water what grows here what do you choose to bring into your garden a rose a peony an oak tree it's your choice it's your canvas it's your garden it's your ocean and anytime that life feels confusing and the voices are coming at you you can do this practice you can empty yourself completely and recognize that you get to choose what you believe and where you're going come home to yourself and awaken thank you I love you namaste
