Right,
So.
Begin our transition into our practice today.
I'm going to be reading some words from Dr.
Lauren Roche.
On this concept of ego,
The I am,
The aham,
A-H-A-M.
In Sanskrit.
How does this concept fit into this practice that we call meditation?
So feel free to be moving around,
Feel free to be stretching,
Walking,
Laying,
Sitting,
Dancing,
Cleaning,
Writing.
As we enter today.
The takeaway here is the ego is to be cherished.
The ego is to be cherished in the same way.
That when you are practicing yoga,
Dancing,
Or working out,
You cherish your nerves,
Your tendons,
Your ligaments,
And muscles.
Bodies love to be used and challenged.
And to do so,
We need to know both our capabilities and our limitations.
When we work out,
Our tissues get sore.
And when we rest the body.
The body heals itself and grows stronger.
Skillful practice in yoga asana,
Yoga meditation or exercising outdoors or in a gym involves systematically challenging ourselves within limits.
Challenging ourselves within limits.
When we sense our limits,
We need to do a quick calculation and say no.
As instantly as possible and thus free ourselves up to say yes to something else.
We have to be ready always to do this within a second.
Because friends may cheerfully invite us to do something that is beyond our capability at the moment,
Or our habits may urge us.
One of the functions of our practice is to be so well-tuned into ourselves that we can go through the day happily saying yes and no and dancing through each moment,
Trusting our instincts.
One of the functions of our practice is to be so well tuned.
Into ourselves.
That we go through the day happily saying yes and no and dancing through each moment.
Trusting our instincts.
One of the functions of ego is to access the who I am today.
Who I am today,
This moment.
And make quick calculations of what I am capable of and what the costs will be.
We have to be alert to push ourselves just so far and no farther.
Least we injure our connective tissue or joints and then are set back by weeks or months or forever.
So in meditation,
We need to access our how many minutes a day,
Doing what particular practice with what kinds of intention,
Work the best to tune us up.
To function at our best and work,
Love,
Play,
And rest.
So today,
This idea,
Okay,
We're using this practice,
Why?
Why show up?
Why practice the overarch?
All of us together,
You can have your own intention,
But if this were to be tuning you up,
So function at your best in your work and your love and your play and your rest.
How to meet yourself,
How to be.
Inside of this space so you feel very tuned up and ready available.
Harmonized to meet.
And to do the work and your relationships and to love and to play.
And to rest.
Blah.
So.
.
.
From the sciences,
But we know a very quick way to harmonize.
Our heart,
Our minds,
Instincts,
Senses,
Really all the parts is through our breath.
So some of you know,
As you continue to show up,
I really love this song to hum,
To hum with.
It's a way to.
.
.
Simulate that vagus nerve to just get everything flowing beautifully together.
So the invitation is to hum along.
With a pattern of this song,
I'm going to go on mute and hum with you.
It's about three minutes.
Feel free to sway,
Feel free to move,
Dance to enjoy the sound of your own.
Song.
Oh,
I love you Oh,
I love you Oh,
I love you most of all.
Oh,
I love you.
Oh,
I love you Oh,
I love you most of all.
Oh I love you.
I love you.
Oh,
I love you most of all cherish the I in this moment.
Howl.
How do you do that right here,
Right now?
Innovate.
See you there.
Through words,
Perhaps visualizations.
VBX Touch.
Perhaps it's how you're breathing.
While you're thinking.
I am losing.
Cherish this I,
This I am.
Feel an emotion without going into the story.
Cherish soft touch of the breath.
To simply acknowledge wave after wave of aliveness.
