This is a guided practice for people who stutter (PWS). Physical tension and mental resistance to speech results to speech blocks and stuttering. This fighting mechanism is developed as a person goes through a series of unhealthy experiences that involves speaking. For adult stutterers this starts in early childhood and can develop and carry on till adulthood. In this practice you will be guided through an exercise to calm your body and mind and let your inner voice - your throat energy - come out with ease. Suitable for both beginners and intermediate levels.

Hello and welcome to a guided meditation for people who stutter.

In this session,

I will guide your body and your mind through a process of letting go.

Letting go of resistance and fight.

I want you to honor your truth and your authentic expression.

Your voice has a unique purpose.

It knows what to say,

When to say it,

And how to say it.

Let your body and mind gently shift back to serving the rightful owner,

Which is the voice within you.

I want you to settle down in a comfortable,

Relaxed environment.

Turn your phone to silent.

Dim the lights and put on your headphones.

You can be sitting down or lying down.

Make sure you are comfortable.

Slowly close your eyes.

Leave the outside,

Outside.

Take a few deep breaths.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

I want you to notice your body.

How does it feel?

Do you feel any pain or discomfort?

If yes,

Let your body naturally shift to get into a more comfortable position.

I want you to notice the energy around your stomach,

Going up your chest,

Your throat,

And your head.

Do you feel any tension and resistance?

Anything that can be improved by physically moving?

If yes,

I want you to zoom into it.

Give it significance.

Give it space to exist.

Be here with it.

Whatever you feel has the right to express itself.

Keep breathing.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

When you are ready,

Gently ask your body,

Body,

Are you willing to open yourself to the present moment?

Are you willing to accept any emotion,

Pleasant or unpleasant,

To come through?

Wait for the knot with patience and understanding.

Breathe in.

Your body should feel lighter and more relaxed now.

I want you to shift your attention to your mental space.

Any thoughts?

Any visual imagery?

Whatever thoughts or visuals,

I want you to zoom into it.

Give it significance.

Give it space to exist.

Be here with it.

Whatever you think and see has the right to express itself.

Keep breathing.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

When you are ready,

Gently ask your mind,

Mind,

Are you willing to open yourself to the present moment,

To accept any thoughts and visual imagery,

Whether pleasant or unpleasant,

To come through.

Wait for the knot with patience and understanding.

Your mind should feel calmer now.

Now I want to invite you into a calming and relaxing place.

Imagine there's air bubble approaching and inside you see a lake.

This lake has the bluest water you've ever seen.

Come in.

Enter this bubble.

Take my hand.

This is a safe space.

Find a comfortable spot next to me.

The birds are chirping.

The beautiful plants and big rocks surrounding your little spot provides perfect privacy.

The warm sunlight feels just right on your skin.

The breeze gives you a slight cooling sensation.

The water is crystal clear.

Take a sip.

This water is healing and with every sip it soothes your soul.

Right in front of you there's a waterfall.

This waterfall is the source to all of this life.

The sound,

It's so calming,

Soothing and relaxing.

How are you feeling right now?

Take your time and gently ask yourself what a message do you have for yourself in this moment?

When you are ready,

Imagine gently bursting the bubble and coming out of it and back to where you are now.

How does your body and mind feel?

Notice that when your body and mind is relaxed,

You let go of tension and resistance and your voice can naturally flow with ease.

Tension,

Resistance and speech blocks soften,

Become smaller and smaller and disappear.

Realizing your truth becomes a smooth and joyful process.

You can only live your life through the truth of your voice.

Nobody else can tell you what to say,

When to say it and how to say it.

Only you can.

Let the body and mind serve the rightful owner,

Which is the inner voice within you.

We are approaching the end of this guided meditation.

You can keep your eyes closed and keep going with the meditation or you can come out and continue with your day.
