Welcome,
Dear one.
Thank you for joining us today and taking time for yourself.
Maybe the title of the track caught your attention and you decided to listen while washing the dishes or taking a walk.
Slow down for a moment.
Take a deep breath and sigh it out.
Notice your feet.
How do they feel?
Is your jaw clenched?
Can we let go of some tension,
Doesn't matter how little.
I wanted to talk about what we are doing when we engage in these meditations.
We try to bring more peace into our hearts,
Bring ease into our bodies,
Maybe even untangle some of the emotional knots that we hold onto longer than necessary.
Oftentimes,
My clients tell me how they just want to get better now.
They get disappointed when therapy doesn't show results fast enough,
And this automatically means they are failing.
I can understand.
We live in such an instant gratification world where what is desired can be quickly accessed.
It feels good to the brain.
Inevitably though,
I have to gently bring them back to reality.
That's just not how humans work.
Short-term benefits don't outweigh the long-term goals.
So today,
I will offer you the same gentle reminder.
There is no formula or magic pill that will make everything better overnight.
It would actually be more dysregulating for your nervous system if it did happen.
It's all in the little acts of care you engage in daily.
That deep breath you took,
The reframing of a critical thought,
The relaxing bath,
The coffee date with a friend.
They add up and slowly,
The good habits become ingrained in your neural pathways.
And when you forget,
Maybe because life just got so hectic,
It's okay to take a break and come back,
To pivot slightly.
Your goals are best served by taking small steps.
Journaling every day might be too much on your mental load,
So maybe set a goal of writing three lines every morning.
20 minutes of breathing might feel like a long time,
So start with that one deep breath,
No matter where you are.
Thank you for taking this moment for yourself,
And may you notice something beautiful today.
