Welcome,
Dear one.
If you've been feeling an overwhelm from meeting your daily tasks,
This space is for you.
Maybe your heart is racing,
Feeling flushed in the face,
A certain tension in your jaw or shoulders,
Maybe all over?
Take a moment to name what it is that you're experiencing.
For example,
I am experiencing a racing heart.
Now let's gently bring your awareness to your space.
Slowly start looking around,
Letting your eyes land on whatever looks interesting.
Moving your neck and your eyes,
Like you have all the time in the world.
There's no rush.
Maybe you find it soothing to look at a certain texture,
Or maybe you're noticing a color pattern around you.
Let yourself indulge in what you see.
Once you've looked around a few times,
Take your index fingers and middle fingers to cup your ears and gently massage around your ears.
You may choose to close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Experiment with pressure and notice what feels best.
Let the strokes go in circles or up and down around the ears.
Drop your hands and notice the sensations that are arising.
Once again,
Let's label them without engaging in any story.
This could be a tingle,
A tension somewhere,
Or just warmth or coolness.
Shift your attention to your breath now.
With each inhale,
We go a little deeper,
And with each exhale,
A little longer.
Follow the rhythm of your body,
Being gentle with each breath.
If you feel dizzy,
Please pause and let the rhythm come naturally.
Maybe shift your attention to the room again until you can steady yourself.
Finally,
Let's rub our hands together to create warmth.
Once you've activated some heat,
Go ahead and cover your eyes.
Now we'll take a deep breath together,
Hold for a moment,
And sigh it out.
Reassess how you feel now.
If you find the feeling of too muchness has shifted,
This would be a good moment to journal,
To get the thoughts out,
Or to go outside for a walk.
If the overwhelm has not shifted,
Maybe it would be best to call a loved one or a helpline to best support you.
Thank you for taking this moment to be gentle with yourself.
