This meditation was created for a dear friend who is new to meditation and has been a skeptic her whole life. Now she finds herself being advised to start the practice and wanting to listen to something short and sweet. I hope it serves not only her, but you as well.

Transcript

I'm so glad that you've chosen to practice.

Take a few moments to become even more comfortable.

Let your head relax,

Your shoulders,

Your back muscles,

And your legs.

Feel easy.

There are things that happened before now,

Things that will happen after now.

But you're here right now.

And you can take a deep breath into now.

It can feel your breath coming in through your nose.

Maybe it leaves through your mouth.

Taking a few breaths and feeling them happen.

If it's hard to feel your breath,

You can place a hand on your body,

Around your belly or your chest.

And continue taking these breaths.

This breath has been here from your very beginning.

And it will continue to be here,

Constant and steady.

Just like the beat of your heart.

You don't even have to think about it.

And as for thinking,

If it's happening,

How wonderful for your beautiful brain.

Just know that you can choose to move your attention from these thoughts back to your breath that is happening right now and right here.
