In today's meditation,
We will work on letting go and grounding ourselves through visualisation.
We will have an opportunity to let go of things that no longer serve us,
And leave behind unwanted thoughts and emotions.
Find a comfortable seat of your choice,
Or lie down flat on your back,
However you prefer,
And find stillness.
Feel the areas where your body touches the ground,
And start to deepen your breath.
Slowly breathing in and out.
With every exhalation,
Feel your body grow heavier and heavier,
Sinking deeper into the ground.
You can feel the earth supporting you from below.
With your next inhale,
Imagine yourself sitting on a small,
Intimate clearing surrounded by trees.
A soft glimmer of light falling through the canopy of leaves tells you it must be around midday.
When your hands graze the ground beneath you,
You can feel the soft grass underneath your fingertips.
You feel the warmth of sunlight falling onto the forest floor in some places.
A light breeze gently blows across your little clearing,
Making the leaves' shadows dance on the forest floor.
You hear birds chirping,
And other small animals of the forest bustling around in the shadows of the trees.
When you hear the soft sound of water flowing down a creek in the distance,
You close your eyes and find a moment of stillness,
Completely at peace with your surroundings.
After a while,
You open your eyes and decide to slowly get up to investigate the sound of softly tinkling water hiding just barely out of sight.
You start heading towards the edge of the trees,
And the moment you leave your small clearing,
The sounds of the forest become more subdued,
And the soft golden light falling onto the forest floor from above provides a comfortable glow,
Just enough to guide your way.
You walk onwards through the trees until you reach a small slope.
From here you can see a small creek making its way through the forest,
Wherever the trees leave enough space for it to flow through down below.
After a few moments,
You start your descent,
Wanting to be closer to the softly flowing water below.
Once you reach the edge of the water,
You look to the right,
Where the creek continues its way downhill until it disappears from view.
To your left,
However,
You can see a small pool on a slightly higher level than where you are standing,
Where water is gathering before it continues its way down.
You sit down at the edge of the water,
Delighted with having found such a small forest sanctuary,
And close your eyes again,
Listening to the soft tinkling and flowing of the water in front of you.
You start breathing deeply and fully,
Heightening your senses to your surroundings.
What sounds can you make out?
Is there a slight breeze rustling the leaves up above,
Or can you hear the various different sounds of life as small animals make their way through the forest?
Suddenly you hear a soft clunking sound and a small splash,
As if something heavy is bumping against the rocks and plants of the creek.
Curious,
You open your eyes and you see a small box gently floating towards you from your left.
It must have dropped down from the small pool of water above.
As it comes closer,
You can see the box more clearly,
And you realise it is made out of wood.
And just as it is about to pass the place where you are sitting,
It gets caught in the lush plant life surrounding the edge of the creek.
You bend forward to retrieve the box and place it on the ground directly in front of you.
With a deep breath,
You suddenly realise that here and now is your opportunity to think about all the things that no longer serve you,
Things you would like to let go of.
Emotions,
Memories or traits you want to release in order to make room for growth and change.
Allow yourself to feel each and every one of them and lay them out in front of you,
Before putting them separately into the small wooden box,
One after the other.
Maybe you would like to thank them for serving a specific purpose in your life,
Even if it's just by showing you who you don't want to be,
And who you want to be instead.
Take a few moments for yourself and fill up your small wooden box.
In quiet,
Surrender.
In quiet,
Surrender.
After you feel like you have gathered all you want to let go of in your small box,
Pick up the box with your hands and take a deep breath in.
With your next,
Complete exhale,
Put the box back into the water and let go.
Watch it slowly floating away until it disappears from view.
Now feeling lighter and calmer than before,
You slowly get up and start to make your way back through the trees and onto your small little clearing,
A small smile playing on your lips.
You sit or lie back down in the middle of the clearing,
The last sun rays of the afternoon gently kissing your skin and you close your eyes.
Slowly start to deepen your breath and make yourself aware of your surroundings in the real world,
The room you are in,
The noises surrounding you.
Slowly start to wiggle your fingers and your toes and feel the ground beneath you,
Supporting you.
With your next deep breath,
Slowly open your eyes.
Feel free to stay here for as long as you wish today.
I wish you a calm and peaceful rest of your day.
Until next time,
Namaste.
