Hear me.
So it was important topic we were taking.
We were taking about what exactly is practice?
What exactly is practice?
It is very important to know the real meaning of the practice.
So as we started with,
Practice has two component.
One is whatever we say practice,
But steadiness of the mind.
So I recognize five different states of the mind and I move my mind into the fourth state.
Those who have attended the previous sessions.
And the second was dispassion.
So this word,
This is what was explained.
And last week we understand what exactly is the dispassion.
So one question came,
Is dispassion hating someone?
Answer is no.
Now by an example,
Understand that and start applying in your life.
You will see a tremendous change in your behavior,
In your attitude,
And in relationship.
Now see a child found a necklace of his mom and starts playing with it.
So for a child,
The necklace is a utility to play with it.
What about the mother?
Mother feels necklace is very important and costly.
But so utility of a child,
Of necklace for child and mother are different.
Clear?
What about the jewelry expert?
He's not interested in playing.
He's not interested in putting the necklace into his neck.
He says this necklace cost $10,
000.
Finished.
Is he attached to the necklace?
No.
Does he want to play with the necklace?
No.
Child plays with the necklace and after that he leaves.
Same thing with the mother.
If he has to go to the,
She has to go to the party,
He wears the necklace,
Brings it out,
Takes it out and keeps in the safe box.
Ignorant and non-meditator knows necklace with object and attached to it.
Non-meditator.
What about the non-meditator?
Becomes the doer,
Enjoyer,
Gets attached.
And the seeker begins knowing the necklace as it is.
Neither attached nor detached.
That leads to dispassion.
That is what is the meaning of dispassion.
And in meditation,
Meditation realizes the world as it is.
The world outside is a play and fun.
Take the world lightly.
Someone says you something.
Someone even says you are good or bad.
You take it as a grain of salt.
Why?
There is a second element in dispassion.
That in dispassion,
Like the jewelry expert who knows the necklace and the cost of it and he is neither attached nor detached.
So when you are neither attached nor detached,
You live into the state of dispassion.
Now think for a while.
You are neither attached nor detached and you are ready for meditation.
Will your mind be distracted?
Your mind will not be distracted.
So next week we will go a little deeply into this practice of dispassion from Gita.
As we have started our journey,
That this series will be from the teachings of Patanjali Yuga Sutra and also from Adita.
Senses in the mind declare that the world is real.
Am I right?
Meditator knows this world is nothing but the blueness of the sky.
The sky is real.
See another understanding of dispassion.
Are you getting it?
The blueness of the sky is a delusion.
The sky is real.
The existence of sky only makes the blueness of a sky.
Similarly,
In dispassion,
The seeker knows the true self.
The real nature alone is real.
At every moment in life,
Someone says,
Are you crazy?
For example.
So now there are two ways to understand it.
You get upset,
Why you told me crazy.
So it proves that you are crazy.
It definitely proves that you are definitely crazy.
That you are definitely crazy.
Did you apply your intellect here to understand?
Why the other guy said you're crazy and where he says you,
He looks at you,
He looks at your body and he says your body is crazy but you understood that you are crazy.
So that's why you are definitely crazy.
So in dispassion,
What we need,
Viveka,
Discernment.
So discernment leads to dispassion.
You have been living with your honey for 10,
12 years.
Now I see that honey,
You are not taking interest in me.
Is this dispassion?
It is opposite of depression.
I can give you hundreds of examples.
Intellect minds and says,
When they oppose reality,
That is passion.
And when they favor reality,
That is dispassion and other understanding.
So when you are not taking interest in me,
You are not taking interest in me.
Are you getting it?
I am attached.
Intellect favors it.
So that attachment leads to conflict,
Confusion,
Anxiety,
Reaction,
Duality in day to day life.
Intellect,
Mind,
Senses,
Opposes reality is passion.
And when it favors reality,
It is dispassion.
So what do we need?
We need to,
In the intellect,
We need to separate real from the unreal.
Now take the same example.
You are crazy.
Maybe the guy is upset,
Having some issues.
That is why he perceived me wrongly.
So if his perception is wrong,
Why should I be wrong?
And that does not create a negative thought pattern in you.
You can say that I'm crazy.
You look at this beard,
Another way to perceive.
Very subtle.
So Krishna explains it beautifully that I'm going to take up next week,
But we are now what he sees,
What the master is seeing.
You,
When you live at the highest state of dispassion and that dispassion takes place in the intellect,
It guides the mind,
Remain empty and the sense organ is neither attached nor detached.
Then what is that state?
That state is mindfulness state.
You are already living in meditation.
You're already living in meditation.
So master says what the master is saying in this sutra,
Which is 16 sutta param purushkya tahi bonavaitrashyam.
So there are a couple of things now.
You can also,
Should understand from the third point of view.
You react,
You appreciate,
You respond,
You become the doer and the enjoyer.
It is Rajasikuna.
And in the state of Rajasikuna,
You do not live in dispassion.
Are you getting it,
Lara?
It is not hate.
Now,
Tamsekuna,
You become the mind gets obsessed and extremely attached.
Have you ever seen that when you are extremely attached,
There is a sense of anxiety,
There is a sense of fear,
There is a sense of reaction.
You are in passion.
That is what is known as passion.
So any person living in these two gunas cannot achieve dispassion.
What is satviguna?
Knowledge.
What is knowledge?
Knowledge of reality.
What exactly is real and what is unreal?
So if I live into that state of awareness of reality,
I enter into the state of dispassion.
When I enter into the state of dispassion,
Eyes or meditation state is already there with me.
I live into the state of meditation and that meditation reveals inner peace and happiness,
Love and wisdom.
Have you ever experienced that your mind has rationalized your reaction in relationship and later on you have realized that is not fair?
We all do.
We all have done.
Why you have said me so?
You are 100% wrong and then I become angry,
Then I continue to react and after two or three days,
That passion calms down.
So I'm opposite of dispassion.
Have you ever realized?
I believe so.
Everyone does this.
So the dispassion has to be practiced every day,
Every moment in your life.
Now see another way.
When you are aware of the real nature,
It is dispassion.
When you are aware of the false nature,
It is passion.
Another way to understand.
Are you getting it?
Picking up.
I am aware that awareness is knowledge.
That knowledge leads me to experience.
Now I'm aware that you are crazy.
So first craziness is in my mind that will continue to react and create conflict.
Those conflicts create a thought pattern.
That thought pattern is nothing but the wandering mind.
The wandering mind cannot succeed in meditation.
So dispassion is at the root.
Are you getting it?
Are you getting it?
So if someone reacts,
Hold on your mind,
Ask the intellect,
Is it worth reacting?
That is what the dispassion is.
Dispassion?
So you say,
I have a passion for the world.
We don't need that.
I have a dispassion for the world.
I need that.
I have a passion for the real nature.
You are already in the state of dispassion.
Passion,
Dispassion,
Passion,
Dispassion.
When this intellect and the mind and the sense organ opposes the reality,
Say,
For example,
In daily relationship,
Peace is my essential nature.
Now I oppose the reality.
How dare you say?
Do you see?
Patanjali is asking us not to meditate once a week,
Only for an hour.
Take this meditation in everyday life.
We want a transformation in our life.
We want an awakening.
We have not set our goal less than awakening.
That is why the dispassion world is there.
Next week,
You'll be blown away when we talk about dispassion.
Krishna deals with this subject totally in a different way.
So now understand the three point and then we will go for practice of meditation.
The lowest level of dispassion,
Lowest level.
You are sick or someone dies near and the dear ones.
The mind says,
What is in the world?
There is nothing in the world.
And after a few days,
Mind returns back to the same passion.
This is the lowest level of dispassion.
There is a kind of dispassion.
You know,
If someone dies,
I will also die.
Then mind says why to earn,
Why to work,
And it withdraws itself.
It lives into that withdrawal of the world.
But after some time,
The mind returns.
This is what the lower level of dispassion,
The middle level of dispassion.
Not interested in pleasure.
Not interested in pain.
The mind totally withdraws itself from the world.
And these people normally become addicted to the drugs.
It is also a dispassion.
You see that,
You know,
I don't want anything.
I want to live into that state,
Taking one dose,
Second dose,
Third dose,
And become addicted.
Highest level of dispassion is what we explained.
I'm neither interested in pain,
Nor interested in pleasure.
I'm not interested in playing with the necklace like a child,
And I'm not very much attached to the necklace,
Putting on the,
I want to know the price.
Price means the reality check.
So when there is a reality check,
I am already there,
The state of dispassion.
Dispession is a state of mind.
Now think,
In this week,
Think how important the dispassion is in our daily life.
Not only it will help you meditate and success in meditation,
But it will help you in daily relationship from moment to moment.
You have a relationship with your employees,
You have relationship with your honey,
You have relationship with your friends and strangers.
Even sometimes people abuse me,
Still they have relationship for the last 10,
15,
20 years.
If I have a little fire to know yourself,
I see that I have relationship with the people 20,
25 years.
Dispassion starts your intellect that everyone is me,
Everyone is like me.
That is the result.
The dispassion in the intellect goes to the mind and the mind believes,
Mind says,
There is no need of attachment and detachment.
Let me work with anyone and everyone with a clarity,
With conviction.
Dispassion also helps you not to become totally selfish in nature so that all the pleasure should come to me.
But when you live into that state of dispassion,
You see whatever I have,
Can I share it?
Whether it is knowledge,
Whether it is wealth,
Whether it is anything.
It changes the entire perception of the mind.
So when that perception changes,
What happens?
That mind is not wandering.
I say,
Close your eyes,
You closed your eyes.
I say,
Keep quiet,
You keep quiet.
I say,
Take your mind inside,
Your mind goes inside.
Can that happen naturally?
I'm reminding you of the first lesson where we understood what is the natural state of the mind.
Do you remember?
What is the natural state of the mind?
A couple of you asked a question also.
The natural state of the mind,
The dispassion is one of the most important practice,
But it has to be practiced inside all the time.
Reality,
Check.
Close your eyes.
Let us start our journey of meditation.
And then we will do the.
.
.
Eyes are closed.
You see that eyes are closed?
Reality,
Check.
Let me modify the practice a bit based on the discussion we had together.
So looking inside the head and through a statement,
I am and I am not.
I am based on the teaching.
I am real self.
It is of the nature of absolute existence,
Consciousness,
Bliss,
And what I am not.
Body,
Breath,
Mind,
Intellect,
Ego,
Being doer,
Enjoyer.
That knowledge and the wisdom must be settled 100% in the intellect.
And if that is settled in the intellect,
The meditation is a play and fun,
My friends.
Let me expand it in a different way so that you become instantly not only clear,
But you can be into the state of meditation.
The other steps become secondary.
What I said,
I am and I am not.
One example,
I am water.
And what I am not?
Ocean,
Waves,
Forms,
Cloud,
Storm,
Flood.
That flood is your anger and hesitation and reaction.
See that you are none of them because you are not the doer and the enjoyer.
That I am.
Now tell me the water remains the water.
Whether you test it here in US or in Europe or in Asia,
Water is water.
That is the understanding of this passion.
See that.
And once we have that wisdom,
That knowledge,
You also find the body tends to become steady on its own.
I need not to force the body to be steady.
Look at the body.
The body is steady.
And you are looking inside the head in the space or in the heart.
We'll also understand when and why to look inside the head,
When and why to look inside the heart.
What is the reason?
Now see that because water is not attached to be an ocean,
To be a wave in the.
.
.
But we are attached with the body,
Breath,
Mind,
Intellect and ego,
Doer,
Enjoyer.
That is why the mind is wandering.
You got the soul of dispassion in that because the mind will return again.
So we will do the nyasa.
Looking.
Select a breath and start breathing little deep,
Silent and slow.
And nyasa breath is the car,
Mind is the driver and the space inside is the highway.
Why say highway?
Now deal with the dispassion.
In the dispassion,
The word is not there.
The word is not there.
The thoughts are not there.
What you do then?
Let us start.
Inhaling.
As you inhale,
Move the mind inside the right arm from the shoulder to the fingertips.
In the space inside and when the breath comes out,
The mind moves from the fingertips to the shoulder on the highway within.
Now if you practice nyasa with the dispassion,
You progress into meditation.
You don't practice just as a physical practice.
You look inside,
Do this.
That's what normally people give the practice.
But if that knowledge part is missing,
The mind will not change.
Simple understanding with clarity.
And as you understand what is that wisdom,
There is no question why should I have thought?
Even if the thought is there,
I can see the highway.
Move the mind inside the left arm.
I can still see that highway within.
The space cannot be rejected.
Thought is there,
But the thought is present in the space and that space is the highway.
So if we do not practice with understanding,
We do not succeed,
My friends.
And then we complain to the practice.
How simple.
How rewarding the journey is with dispassion.
Now move the mind inside the right leg from the right side of the waist.
As you inhale,
The mind moves from the right side of the waist inside to the right leg,
Reaching to the toes.
And when you exhale,
The breath should be harmonious,
Rhythmic.
You are not in a hurry.
Why did I say that?
If you are in a hurry,
Rajasikuna is there.
It means even if you don't realize you have thoughts,
But it means at the deeper level of your mind,
The mind is triggering you.
Do you simply see the logic,
Understanding,
Clarity,
So the intellect takes over the mind and the intellect says continue to inhale and exhale.
You need not to do anything in the highway within.
Now inside the left leg.
Look at it.
And we will apply Viveka in dispassion in the mantra also,
And it will take you to another dimension today.
When we are powerful as a seeker,
Then these mantras become powerful.
Otherwise Google could have been the most powerful with the mantra.
Everything is written there.
Now inside the spine.
From the crown of the head to the tailbone and from the tailbone to the crown of the head.
And I'll leave this deep breath.
You already have known how we practice the mantra and we will see where the dispassion comes.
The first line,
Singing and listening.
Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu Singing and listening,
Who is listening?
You are the listener.
So it means even if other thoughts are there,
The mind is listening to these thoughts.
You have added one more.
You are also listening to this because this listening takes you to the reality.
Now you see the element of dispassion here.
Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu Now six times we do it with a meaning.
Now what happens where the meaning takes place?
In the intellect.
What is most important in dispassion?
The intellect must be settled in dispassion.
I have said this.
Let us see singing,
Listening and with meaning.
Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu And we take this meaning to the wisdom,
The state of dispassion.
That is why we started the journey with the mantra.
Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu Swasthir,
Well-being.
So we see that well-being everywhere,
Including all of us.
Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu Second line.
I know,
I believe all you are aware of that movement of the mind into the dispassion.
So the second line is three times singing and listening.
Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu Now the meaning is let peace be everywhere in all the beings.
You know,
With the dispassion,
You are awakened to the dispassion.
What is going to happen?
Say your mind says,
You know,
I don't want to talk to that guy.
You know,
That center of the mind will melt away.
Oh,
What is this craziness?
Let us leave this.
Check it when you do the practice this week.
Six times.
Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu And what is the applied knowledge?
You know,
That applied knowledge is viveka.
When we live in that state of discernment,
Dispassion is the natural outcome.
Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu Sarvesham swasthir bhavatu Third line.
Singing and listening by regular practice with awareness.
The time comes when you start listening to that sound.
And that sound merges the mind inside.
Again we are consciously noticing this.
Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Purna means whole,
Oneness.
So when I feel the oneness within,
I can perceive the oneness outside.
It is the perception in the state of dispassion.
Not passion.
What is the perception in passion?
Okay,
You are my student,
You are my honey,
You are not good,
You are bad.
The mind is ready to cause the wandering obsession reaction,
Even if you don't react outside.
Meaning is oneness.
Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Six times with the applied knowledge.
I have already explained.
Yes I am complete in myself.
Take an example of a water.
Even according to the science,
The water becomes dirty,
Still it remains H2O.
It neither becomes H3O or H2O2.
H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide.
See that.
Similarly our real nature is whole.
So that knowledge should be settled by dispassion in the intellect to practice meditation to succeed.
Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Sarvesham puranam bhavatu Do you see that realization?
Do you see a total stillness in the body?
Because that mind and intellect is not at all concerned about the body,
Breath,
Mind,
Intellect.
Same example.
It is not concerned about the small big wave,
Storms,
Tsunami,
Water is water.
Fourth line.
Sarvesham bhavatu Sarvesham bhavatu Sarvesham bhavatu Singing,
Listening and meaning.
Meaning is auspiciousness.
Sarvesham bhavatu Sarvesham bhavatu Sarvesham bhavatu Sarvesham bhavatu Sarvesham bhavatu Sarvesham bhavatu Now the applied knowledge.
Apply,
What is that applied knowledge?
That now I move,
Live,
Think,
Work in my life with auspiciousness behind.
Ego behind?
No.
Doer behind?
No.
Enjoyer behind?
No.
Binding desire?
No.
Only the auspiciousness.
Just understand that.
Then who can prevent you to be into that state of meditation?
Sarveshamangalam Bhavattu.
Sarveshamangalam Bhavattu.
Sarveshamangalam Bhavattu.
Sarveshamangalam Bhavattu.
Sarveshamangalam Bhavattu.
Sarveshamangalam Bhavattu.
Sarveshamangalam.
Is there anything left now?
You know,
Even nothing is left.
You know when the plate is empty and you like a dish.
So what happens?
You start squeezing your fingers.
So now the following steps is nothing but like this.
Squeezing the fingers,
You are already there.
That is the power of dispersion.
Imagine you woke up just now.
You see you woke up and before the desire takes over,
Just chant all the four mantras or any one mantra.
Sarvesham,
Sastra,
Sarvesham,
Shantara,
Sarvesham,
Purnam,
Bhavattu,
Sarveshamangalam.
Imagine now you are going to bed,
You lie down,
You are stretched off the light and return your mind to the mantra.
Any mantra,
Even in English you can say,
I see the wellness everywhere,
I see the peace everywhere,
I see everyone there is a wholeness,
Oneness.
And that is why I am in auspicious moment my whole life.
Now see how our masters put their logic.
Can you tell me ocean is in the water or water is in the ocean?
The fact is the ocean,
The waves,
The tsunami,
The flood,
The storm is in the water.
But in our normal communication we see it differently.
So what it means?
My body,
My breath,
My thought,
My speech,
My action is in?
Real nature,
Walk the mind from the crown of the head,
Moving inside,
Return,
Doing,
Moving inside the forehead and saying Aum Shanti.
Or maybe pick up any mantra,
Sarvesha Mangalam Bhagat.
When understanding is clear,
Conviction is there,
It is we regard discernment.
When we live into that state,
It is dispassion.
What if you live into that?
You're already in the state of meditation.
That is the power.
Applause.
.
Your real nature Perfectly settled Natural state from where we started the journey of this series Shanti shanti shanti Shanti shanti shanti Shanti shanti shanti Shanti shanti shanti Bring your awareness on the right hand,
Your awareness on the left hand.
Lift your Buddha.
Place it on your eyes and once just experience the state when you experience the state inside inside your palm then you can bring the hands down.
Why I don't hear you.
Wait can I David can you say let me I don't hear Daniel let me check if everything is working fine.
Lara can you share your experiences first before Daniel.
Yeah.
Let us share first and to see if the mic is working.
Lara.
Yes.
You don't listen to me.
Oh nobody is listening.
No I don't hear you Daniel.
Again.
Do you hear me.
So Lara can you say or Stephen Can you share your experiences.
Let me see if everything is working fine.
No I don't hear you.
Lara can you say no I don't hear you what happened.
I don't know.
I don't know what happened.
I wish we hear each other's yes yes that is what I'm saying that everyone hears.
But why.
Why I'm not hearing you.
I don't know what happened.
The volume is almost 100 points.
You guys hear me.
Yeah yeah yeah you guys hear me.
Okay.
So I don't hear you.
Let me check once again otherwise I will.
Technology sometimes doesn't want to cooperate.
Yes.
Including the mind.
And.
So yes so let me.
Let me summarize work on this.
The computer is in dispassion.
That's wonderful.
Samuel is great.
Samuel is great.
Yes.
One point to be noted.
So when you are in dispassion the intellect the mind in the sense organ always expresses the natural state.
This computer is crazy because it is not expressing that dispassion.
So understand that dispassion means it is the state of intellect in the consciousness and also in the mind.
So from that state of the dispassion the intellect is clear and it knows the reality.
The way we say the sound bites.
So the intellect has a truth bite.
The real self bites.
Then it expresses in the mind.
Then it expresses through the thought speech and action.
And that state reveals the meditative state in our day to day life.
So the master is saying what the master is saying.
Thank computer you know it gave me further opportunity to speak.
So the master is saying what master is saying.
That higher state of dispassion.
You need even don't practice anything.
You live into that higher state of dispassion.
So what happens.
You discover that you are living speaking working in meditation.
That idea has been taken by the people in the West and then they have started using the word effortlessness.
Mindfulness.
We say meditation is not a practice.
I don't have any dispassion.
Then practice meditation.
No no meditation is not a practice.
So I don't have a dispassion within.
And then I claim that meditation is an effortless.
We should understand why it is effortless.
Why it is natural.
And we will take up again next week.
Thank you very much.
So we will.
I will.
Try to take care of the computer in dispassion.
Thank you.
