I hope you've found somewhere comfortable to sit.
It's easier if it's somewhere quiet where you won't be disturbed.
Just wriggle your body and settle into the surface supporting you.
Let your hands rest lightly in your lap.
Relax.
There's no hurry.
We've nowhere else to be.
Take a few moments to look at the things around you.
Start with the things furthest away.
And then allow your attention to come closer and closer.
Until you are looking just in front of your nose.
Slowly close those eyelids.
And focus on your hearing.
Start by listening for the sounds that are in the distance,
Perhaps outside.
And then to those that are closer and closer.
Until you can hear the sound of your breathing.
Observe its natural rhythm.
Now,
Take a full breath in.
Feel your belly expand.
And a long,
Slow breath out.
And feel your belly contract.
Repeat this three times.
Allow your breath to settle now into its natural rhythm.
Feel your shoulders drop.
Your body become heavy as you relax into the rhythm.
Nowhere else to be.
Just here.
I'd like you to picture in your imagination,
In your mind,
A ball.
The ball may be large or small,
Round or oval.
It may be textured or smooth.
Made of leather,
Plastic,
Foam,
Rubber,
Or.
.
.
You may have to inflate it.
Perhaps a football,
Tennis ball,
Cricket ball,
Golf ball,
Baseball,
Basketball,
Volleyball,
Table tennis ball,
Beach ball,
Medicine ball,
An oddball,
Or some other kind of ball.
Whatever you decide is fine.
Picture it there in your mind.
It is just sitting there.
Perfectly still.
Perfectly at ease.
Allow your body to sit as still as that ball.
Perfectly still.
Perfectly at ease.
Now picture yourself holding the ball in your hands.
Compare the size of it to the size of your hands.
Notice how it feels in your hands.
Its texture.
Its weight.
Its shape.
Notice how calmly it sits in your hands.
Until you move it.
Move it from one hand to the other.
And then watch how it settles back to stillness when you stop.
Perfectly still.
Perfectly at ease.
Calmly waiting.
Its energy harnessed within it.
Waiting for you to perfectly connect with it before it takes flight.
Now see yourself.
Decide.
Will you throw it?
Kick it?
Hit it?
Strike it?
Bowl it?
Pitch it?
Punch it?
Will you use your foot?
Your hand?
A bat?
Or a racket?
This is your moment.
You decide.
Place the ball in position.
Prepare yourself.
There's just you and the ball.
Focus on the ball.
You can create the perfect flight.
Be like the ball.
Perfectly still.
Perfectly at ease.
Calm.
Ready to connect or release.
Harness your energy.
Prepare for action.
Perfect symmetry.
Perfect balance.
Perfect rhythm.
Now connect or release.
Feel that moment of connection or release when the ball takes flight.
Feel it gather momentum.
In perfect alignment.
Gathering speed.
Become the ball moving through space.
With precision and accuracy.
Spinning.
You and space.
Timeless.
In harmony.
That moment of optimum speed.
And then slowing.
Gradually slowing.
Returning to stillness.
Exactly where you want it to be.
Perfectly still.
Perfectly at ease.
You and the ball.
Relax.
Focus on the ball.
Perfectly still.

Come back now to your body and where you are sitting.
Feel your arms,
Your legs,
Your hands,
Your feet.
Have just a bit of a wriggle.
And open your eyes.
