Let's begin our journey now.
You don't need to prepare anything,
Just allow yourself to listen.
Your body is welcome to rest,
Your thoughts are welcome to soften.
Let this be your moment,
Yours alone.
Now close your eyes gently and imagine you are standing in a forest just before sunrise.
The sky is a deep indigo,
Quiet birds are beginning to sing,
There's a cool breeze moving softly across your skin,
The air is fresh like it's never been breathed before.
You take a slow deep breath in and a long steady breath out.
With each step you take forward,
You feel your body becoming a little lighter.
The ground is soft beneath your feet and in the distance you begin to hear water,
A rhythmic lapping sound,
Calm and hypnotic.
You follow the sound through a small clearing.
Suddenly the trees open to reveal a lake,
Still and wide,
Stretching out like a mirror into the horizon.
There are no waves,
No boats,
No voices,
Only quiet,
Only reflection.
This lake is here for you.
Breathe in the calm and breathe out whatever you carried here.
The lake is not asking you to be anyone,
Only to arrive.
Now slowly walk to the edge of the water.
It's so clear you can see smooth stones beneath the surface.
The sky begins to brighten slightly,
Casting a soft golden glow.
You take another breath in through your nose,
Hold it gently and breathe out slowly through your mouth.
You begin to step into the lake,
First one foot,
Then the other.
The water is warm,
Gentle and still.
It welcomes you,
It holds no resistance.
As you walk further in,
Feel your breath matching the rhythm of the water.
Let's practice that together.
Breathe in for four counts,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Hold the breath,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Again,
Inhale,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Hold,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
With each breath,
Your body relaxes more deeply.
With each step into the lake,
Your thoughts grow quieter.
Now the water is up to your chest and you let yourself lean back.
You float,
Weightless,
Effortless.
The lake holds you completely.
There is nothing to manage,
Nothing to fix.
Here,
You are just a soul being held.
As you float,
Clouds begin to drift overhead,
Slow,
White and glowing.
Each cloud carries something you've been holding on to.
The first one.
Take a moment to name it silently in your mind.
A worry,
A fear,
Or a heavy thought.
And watch as the cloud carries it away.
You don't need to chase it and you don't need to bring it back.
Now another cloud appears.
This one holds self-doubt.
You watch it drift across the sky,
Growing smaller and smaller,
Until it dissolves into light.
You feel at peace in this moment as you're letting go of your fears and doubts.
And as you continue floating,
You inhale peace,
And exhale tension.
Inhale stillness,
And exhale overthinking.
The sun is rising now.
It touches the lake.
It touches you and warms your face.
As it rises,
It brings a new energy.
An energy of possibility,
Of fresh perspective,
And of calm strength.
And now,
As you float,
The lake gently begins to reflect something new.
Not just the sky above,
But your own calm beneath.
You see yourself,
Still,
Soft,
And safe.
You've made space here inside this story,
Inside your breath.
You've opened the door to release,
And the lake reflects that.
Place your hand gently on your chest wherever you are,
And feel your heart beat,
And feel the rise and fall of your chest.
Notice the rhythm and pattern of the water's movements,
As it aligns with your breathing.
And in that quiet rhythm,
You say quietly in your mind,
I am safe in this moment.
I am held by something greater than my worry.
I am allowed to let go.
You take another final deep breath in,
And feel it nourish you,
And then breathe out,
And let go just a little more.
And the water begins to carry you slowly,
Not away from yourself,
But deeper into peace.
You are no longer defined by what worries you.
You are no longer controlled by the tension.
You are free.
And as you begin to return from this journey,
Know this,
You can come back to this lake whenever you need,
And you can float in your own breath,
And you can trust that stillness is always waiting.
Finally,
Wiggle your toes gently,
And wiggle your fingers,
And let your body return slowly to the space that you're in.
And as you open your eyes,
Carry this truth with you.
You are not your anxiety.
You are the sky it passes through,
And the lake that softens it,
And the breath that carries you home.
