I'd like to start by sharing my two cents on why it may be purposeful to start a meditation practice.
Over time with practice,
We can physically change our fundamental state of mind.
When we take the time to sit quietly and allow whatever it is that's going on in the mind or the body to surface and to sit with it in a non-judgmental way,
It begins to train our brain to experience rather than react.
This will allow you to become more attuned with your thoughts,
Feelings,
And sensations,
Questioning your curiosity and the possibilities as you begin to watch you.
This is called introspection.
From this framework,
We start to cultivate a new mind.
As you begin to notice your habits,
Your triggers,
Thoughts,
And feelings,
You can start to create a shift.
Without judging any of it,
Simply noticing,
Being interested,
Not categorizing.
Notice when you self-soothe with food,
TV,
Sleep,
Drugs,
Alcohol,
Sex.
Notice when you become egotistic.
Notice when or what makes you feel angry,
Sad,
Happy,
Or loved.
Then notice when it passes and how everything passes.
Meditation can create a new outlook on your life.
It creates a quality of awareness in all that we do.
It deliberately is training that quality to start living with intention rather than a destination.
Meditation allows you to sink deeper into your consciousness and open the doorway to your intuition.
One of the best gifts you can give yourself anytime,
Anywhere.
Meditation gives you the opportunity to listen to what your soul is trying to communicate to you.
And it is always in communication,
But it gets bogged down with all the noise created from your outside world.
So just as you build endurance when you exercise to strengthen your body,
You have to exercise your mind and your patience for a fulfilling practice.
When you begin your meditation practice,
Your ego will likely be there front and center telling you that you're doing it all wrong.
Give up now.
This is boring.
It's not doing anything.
Let's just quit while we're ahead.
Why are you wasting your time?
We're going to gently push that ego aside and away for a moment and then call in the highest version of you to sit front and center and sit with whatever comes up for you in that moment.
Be present with your thought.
We're not trying to abolish your thoughts or stifle your thoughts or quiet your thoughts or have no thoughts.
We just simply want to be present with our thoughts.
And once you gain access to these long neglected messages,
You tap into your source.
You begin to gain control over your life simply by becoming more aware of your thoughts you choose to lead with.
The more you make the choice to sit down and honor your busy mind by actually listening,
The more you'll notice what thoughts are serving you and what thoughts are not.
